+552 Why can't they ever just put a scottish person in a scottish role in a movie? American's and Canadian's just can't do the accent. amirite?

Exactly! Thank you. I've been waiting to see Ewan McGregor in a Scottish role, and he's always English or American.

THANK YOU

Or Gerard Butler! The only time I've heard him use his own accent was in How To Train Your Dragon! When you're scottish and you watch movies with imitations it's almost painful. Mike Myers is the only exception, he's actually alright.

You don't need apostrophes in between "Americans" and "Canadians" there ;D

Thank you for your wisdom grammer guru! Oh darn, I meant grammAr! You've truely opened my eyes! ;D @179103 (Anonymous):

Whoever posted this was an idiot. Rules for plurals are very simple. In 99% of cases, you just add an "s." Why anyone would think apostrophes are necessary is beyond me.

90% of statistics are made up on the spot. Did you know that? Also, I thought it was pretty obvious that I didn't care the first time, but hey I'm an idiot, what do I know! ps. It can be used either way.

idk Mike Myers as Shrek was pretty convincing

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I totally agree , but it is pretty funny to hear them try and to epicaly phail.

It's because Scottish people are ugly, hairy, alcoholics.

The Last King of Scotland...James McAvoy plays a Scottish man.

you haven't been talking to the common American or Canadian then. There are those of us out there that practice accents quite a bit, and do run them by natives of the country to be certain they're legit. Perhaps not many, but we do exist.

Well, I've lived in Canada for a couple of years now, and I have heard many people attempt my accents. To be honest they are all complete shit D:

they may not be serious about being accurate with their accents. As I'm looking into possible voice acting as a career choice, proper accenting is vital to this job, and I'd rather be the best I can be instead of "some hack chick who can't even sound right"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ohhh, you meant people serious about it! I thought you just meant like casually. No, I haven't met anyone legitimately trying to perfect it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*nods* maybe someday you'll find one. Even if I don't go into voice acting, I'm still quite serious about my accents.
