+156 Everyone gives Justin crap for being to young too be taken seriously, but it was ok for Michael and Donny. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah but they were good.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They probably had people who didn't like them, just like Justin. I agree GlamPirate that Bieber's appeal will wear off, but you can't judge who's a good singer and who's not (Beiber can stay on pitch, it's just that his voice is high) since everyone has different tastes in music.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but Michael didn't start off on youtube, he got discovered the old fashioned way, through hard work and talent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i'm not a big fan of justin bieber, but he still had to work. Just because he was discovered on youtube doesn't mean someone instantly was like "OKAY TIME FOR YOU TO SELL OUT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN LETS GO!" he had to work while he was on youtube, and once he got discovered.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Would he have been famous without youtube?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

it's possible.. i mean, yeah he got lucky that someone found him. but its not like someone found him and told him to start sining. he was working hard to sing, he had been on revious shows trying to show his talent and he was trying. so people who knew him and loved his voice showed it to more and more people. he still worked hard. he didn't just randomly get discovered after one video.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No he didn't... but it takes more than just an ability to sing to get discovered and making multiple videos. Having youtube makes it so much easier to get discovered, if you just make a number of actually good videos, it'll become viral and pretty soon you'll get people's attention

by Anonymous 12 years ago

right but he still had to be good. he didn't get a great record deal as soon as he was discovered. and plus, obviously we're supposed to be using technology for our advantage. if micheal jackson had youtube i'm sure he would have uploaded youtube videos.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah I know all that, but op is wondering why people hate on JB, but not MJ. I gave one reason, because he used modern technology to his advantage....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

but thats the reason we have modern technology. and you said he didn't have to work, but he did. but okay.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

For Justin Bieber to get discovered? Jk, but seriously he didn't work nearly as hard as past musicians who got discovered without youtube. He mighta worked hard, but not as hard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean, i disagree but i can't change your mind at all. neither of us know how hard he worked or anyone else did. but you have to give him credit that at least he worked hard to get discovered and he deserved it, unlike some people who just have famous rich daddies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying that JB worked as hard as MJ? Because everybody knows MJ's dad was crazy and that he overworked him and that was why he left the group and the same with his sister.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

-__________- i wasn't denying the fact that either of them worked hard. I'm not saying michael jackson didn't work hard or didn't have a rough life. i'm saying that youtube or not, both still have to have talent and work hard to make it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I do agree with that, but there are levels of hard work

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lol Donny...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

MJ had crossover appeal in the extreme, and songs that stayed with you because they were good, not repetitive and irritating. When Beiber sells as many records and has as long a career as MJ, maybe then he'll be taken seriously.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It'll probably be harder to compare how many records he sells, because people don't use record players anymore....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Donny?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think they mean donny osmond... Lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They both also had their careers continue after their 17th birthdays. Let's see where this kid is in a couple of years after the novelty has worn off and his 12 year old fans develop a decent taste in music

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Agreed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think you've got "to" and "too" mixed up

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There's no denying, the kids got talent. But like most pop stars who are manufactured by record labels, once he reaches a certain age or point in his career, people are gonna stop caring and start obsessing over the next big thing. Its pop music 101. Lol. His only hope is coming up with an edgy gimmick or try to get in movies like Justin Timberlake. Otherwise, he can always play the old hits on the Today Show twenty years from now like New Kids On The Block.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You also have to remember that Justin is a solo artist where Donny and Michael were in groups. Michael, the Jackson 5, Donny, The Osmonds (obviously). They're solo careers started much later, so you can't really compare them...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But Michael and Donny have/had talent........

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah leave her alone
