American comedy can only dream of reaching the level of British comedy, amirite?

is this based solely off of The Office?

Heck no.

As much as I like things like Monty Python, you can't just ignore people like George Carlin and Dave Chappelle and Demetri Martin.

Dane Cook, Daniel Tosh, Demetri Martin, Aziz Ansari, Adam Sandler, Lewis Black, Greg Giraldo, Kevin James, Sarah Silverman; enough said.

Demetri Martin <3

Well, most of our comedies are based off of sex, beer, drugs, and such.

Rocky is clearly 1. un-American and 2. has not seen Airplane 1 and 2.

NOT TRUE. Actually I was just about to watch Airplane. KEEP YOUR PANTS ON. WHERE'S THAT RAP?
by Anonymous14 years ago
I saw Airplane 2 a few days ago, due to recommendations on this site.
I think some British Comedy sucks, same with American. But some is awesome, I try not to compare the two.
British seems cleverer at times, but can be well stupid also e.g. Little Britain. And the fact that I laugh at Big Bang Theory because it's true, rather than weird, make that a clever comedy.

Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, Bernie Mac, Eddie Murphy (back in his Raw, Delirious days), Dave Chappelle just to name a few. And believe it or not but Bill Cosby's stand up is frickin hilarious.

rite on! i <3 me some bill cosby and he's not gross or anything
by Anonymous14 years ago
demetri martin, bill cosby, dave chapelle, richard pryor, george carlin, mike judge, the colbert report, 30 rock, weeds, stepbrothers, etc. I realize that British comedy has its golden classics and can be pretty damn funny, but American comedy is getting to the level of Monty Python, even further. just my 2 cents.
