They're one of the coolest sounding instruments, but they're really hard to play.

i guess it sounds that way when YOU play it, otherwise, it sounds beautiful, i played the french horn before,btw, im not that great, but def does not sound like a drowning elephant,

badly played french horns are awful. (and are unfortunately quite prevalent.) well played french horns, in my opinion, are the nicest brass instrument if not the nicest orchestral instrument.
