Hispanic means originated in Iberian peninsula ...therefore you are hispanic. Your probably getting Hispanic confused with Latino

Actually maybe you're right. I actually made this post because I'm not sure which one I am. But if the ever ask me if I'm Hispanic or European I'll say both.

Hmm, I thought Hispanic was only used to refer to the Spanish people in the Americas? I mean I know it was originally for people from Hispania, which is now mostly Spain, (including Portugal and stretching a little east?) but I think nowadays it's commonly used for the people from South America.... Not sure though, enlighten me won't ya?

At least you get to be Hispanic... I only get to be white.

I'd say European. I hate the term Hispanic because it alienates Spaniards from other Europeans. The U.S census needs a new word.

Yeah, I discovered that according to every country I'm European but if I went to live in the US, I'd be "Hispanic", they really need to change that!

Hispanic isn't an ethnicity. It refers to someone who comes from a country where a primary language is Spanish. Latino refers to someone from Latin America. Mexican is an ethnicity, and so is Spanish. Also, if your ancestors were from Ethiopia but live in Spain your ethnicity would be Ethiopian but your nationality would be Spanish. Basically, ethnicity refers to the country/culture your ancestors come from, and nationality refers to what country you are from.
