+100 It doesn't make sense for girls when they are talking about a friend who is a boy to say my guy friend, why can't they just say friend? Boys don't say my girl friend if they are talking about a friend who is a girl, amirite?

Its because most girls are dumbnuts and want to show off that they have friends that arent girls.

dumbnutss? Shoot females don't have nuts. I bet you don't have many female friends with an attitude like that..

Sometimes, in a specific context, it need to be stipulated for the story to make proper sense.

i think its because most girls want to show off that they have friends that arent just girls, also because it sometimes needs to be clarified in a story because guys usually think and do actions differently to what a girl would do in the same situation (im not stereotyping girls&guys im just trying to say in general....)

in general, because the kids at my school have to band together (we're a school where the IB kids have to stick together otherwise we'll get stabbed or convinced to do drugs) we are all really close and so we just say "oh, caan one of my guy friends come too?" to specify that we mean a guy and not a girl.

Well maybe they want you to know they have friends who are guys.
