-1,227 Most American's wouldn't know where Australia was on a map, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Some maybe, but most? You were brought up ALL wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would have given you New Zealand, but Australia? Everyone knows that. It's a giant fucking island. A guy who's never seen a map before can find Australia on a map.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

seriously! but i actually do know where new zealand is because i went there, but i wouldn't have thought it was that weird that someone thought that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That made my week.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is a stupid steryotype. Maybe some inner city/southerners might not know, but the vast majority of Americans aren't much worse at geography then the average Canadian or European. I know where Andorra is, do you?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

fuck you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

someone complaining of a stereotype quick to use a stereotype....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd wager that a good deal of "American's" know when the use of an apostrophe is appropriate as well.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you got it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just what I came to say.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@196920: win!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, that's not insulting at all. Some Americans might not have taken Geography and are admittedly stupid. But a lot of America is smart.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha. I love how people think all Americans are morons. Listen, I happen to be American, and I not only know where Australia is, but I LOVE AUSTRALIA! Go Aussies! Yeah, and this might shock you, but I am not overweight, I don't eat McDonalds crap, and I exercise regularly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you for saying what we all wanted to say, but never did.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well said

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Never thought that to begin with. I don't beleive in stereotyping, American or otherwise. I can't stand my own countrys (Australia) stereotypes. Although, some, not all, Americans do say some stuid things about the stereotyping of Australia. I have been there and people said things like, " Wow, your english is good!" ect. Still, not all Americans.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I bet the 74 who voted "Yeah you are" did it sarcastically or aren't from America and believe in the stereotype. Or they're just really stupid.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love how whenever someone posts something making fun of Americans, they do it anonymously.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's the most boring looking continent on the map. how do you miss that splotch?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Boring? Australia isn't boring!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Australia isn't. The shape is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No really, its full of turns and shapes ect. Its very intresting, actually.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You'd have to live in a cave to not know where Australia is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most people in America Being american myself unfortunately do know were Australia is but 55 percent of Americans don't know the sun is a star unfortunately that is a little over half.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think I should be laughing at this comment, just not for the reason that was intended...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am American, and I do know where Australia is. I have also been there, and I loved it. Every American I know knows where Australia is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

America could still kick your ass in a war....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(A marine): Haha, GO AMERICA!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(A marine): "War doesn't show us who's right, it shows us who's left.." By NeonSparklie post (#3684)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You failed to mention this: which country has more poisonous animals, including the platypus (yes it is, look it up) and the VERY deadly box jellyfish? Of course, I still think the land is gorgeous!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Australia surpassed America as the fattest country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@199903 (misterme34): Look it up, that is a big fat lie - no pun intended. Actually, American is still first... not Australia, this is not an accusiation, just a fact. You have a bigger populaton, sorry, your still number one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fuck yourself asshole!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OP, you shouldn't have said Australia, you should have said Armenia, Slovakia or "Most American sdon't know Georgia is also the name of a country".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You are rite

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe I just voted no, cz Australia is awesome!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This post is probably a result of all those videos filmed in they 80's that they show Australian and New Zealand kids. The videos show Americans on the street being given a map and asked to point out Australia, and the people point to Africa or some random country. Admittedly it was at a time before the proliferation of the internet, mass media coverage, and the 2000 Olympics.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HEY, MAN! (or WOMAN) I want you to know that we learned that in like 2nd grade, maybe 3rd, and then for some people again in 7th (just to make sure we know) so...there.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most Americans would know that unless it's possessive, you don't put an apostrophe in "Americans."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

uhhh, half-australian here. I have a vague idea of where it is, considering it's my father's home. and I have been there twice. It doesn't hurt that on most maps, continents and things of that nature are labeled
