+575 Why do round pizzas come in square boxes, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because squares tessellate.

Uhhh -.-

...fit together? You can't store circle boxes very well, there'd be gaps between them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It still doesn't make sense to me. So what? What if there are gaps between them? There're gaps between the square and the circle too. :S

But if you're storing the pizza boxes you'd want a square or some kind of shape that fits together so that you can fit the maximum amount of boxes in the least amount of space. It doesn't necessarily matter as much if the pizza fits perfectly in the box, either way you're only putting one pizza in each box so it doesn't make a difference how it fits. If you're putting a bunch of boxes in a storage room you want to be efficient. It's like playing tetris, you want your pieces to fit nicely together.

I guess you drank too much Redbull dude. xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because square boxes are easier to make.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why not

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because it is easier to make a round pizza than a square one. It is also easier to make a square box than a round one. So, who cares?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I care.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I heard that it doesn't squish the pizza.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So that you can take it out easily?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's only for my benefit..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I thought about that too, but i realized a circle box would be harder to open, at least for me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

or maybe no one had tought about it... i work at Pizza Hut.. i must talk to my manager!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe you'll get promoted ;)

Ever try making a round box? Boxes, in general, are square for a reason. It's simple and easier to open. For a round box, the lid would have to be made to come off completely, like a hatbox. It's a big hassle. Clean-up is also easier. Square boxes can be more easily folded up and disposed.

Because it's called a pizza Box not a pizza cylinder

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A box doesn't necessarily have to be square. Can't it be a round box?

i remember reading this in a book made me laugh the first time
