until your an adult, you can't choose your own religon. A kid can't so you have no choice

i'm seventeen and my parents make me go to church even though i've let them know i don't believe in god. i think i'm old enough to have my own beliefs and they should respect that..

I have been wanting to convert to Buddhism for some time now, and my strict catholic parents keep shoving bibles down my throat. I'm old enough to make my own decisions, and I don't need them forcing me to believe something I have no disire, or interest in. sorry, bub, but you're wrong.

Parents should not force *anything*. Especially not faith. Santa Clause is all good fun, until mommy tells you he's actually not real and you burst into tears. How come when the day comes someone tells you your religion is actually perpendicular to santa clause, it's already too late?

Indeed. In fact, I hate when parents do that. Just because we don't want to go to church doesn't mean we are just being lazy. XD

What kind of people are saying No Way to this? If you don't beleive in God in the first place, then shoving a Bible down your throat won't change it. It will just serve to push them farther away. Beleive me, I know, it happened to me.

I know! And same with politics. Politics and religion are things that everyone needs to choose for themselves.

Exactly! I'm thirteen years of age and an athiest. My parents force me to go to church. You know, I don't give a hell if they have the legal rights to ,religion is MY choice, not theirs.

If I could physically high five you I would. Anyways, just tell your parents that God is silly nonsense (: get in a few arguements about it two xD haha thats how I got my mom to back off (:<

hmm it seems to me like even though you all go to church, none of you listen to what's being said. Just because you go to church doesn't mean you're following a religion; if your parents are paying your way through life at the moment then just accept that they want you in church for maybe 3 hours a week... It's not torture and sometimes you just have to do what you're told (i.e. Go to school, brush your teeth, ect.) just do it and don't dwell on the fact that you don't want to... things go by quicker that way.
