This is only half true. Having expectations of yourself is good; having expectations of others? Not so much. When you can truly accept that most of your disappointments in the people in your life are a direct result of expectations you had of people all on your own... and it's not fair to do that... it becomes easier to recognize the difference between someone actually letting you down and when you were expecting something the person never committed to. It's a lot happier and less stressful to quit projecting your expectations on others.
