+276 Why do they make blue raspberry flavored candy if there isn't an actual blue raspberry fruit, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

cause it tastes good

They make it blue because if they kept it red it would get confused with strawberry or cherry flavored candies.

Or watermelon

It still isn't blue...

Rubus leucodermis (Blackcap Raspberry,[1] Black Raspberry,[2] Whitebark Raspberry,[2][3] or BLUE RASPBERRY) Note the last two words.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The fruit is 1–1.2 cm diameter, red to reddish-purple at first, turning dark purple to nearly black when ripe. Note the actual description.

Not only would it get confused with the other red flavors, but there aren't many other blue fruits that it would get confused with

Because we've already got watermelon, strawberry, and cherry to deal with in the way of red/pink candy. And why not blue?
