+423 I think that if you commit a crime, you will have the exact same done to you. For example, let's say you stole $22.17 of candy. You will pay the $22.17 back. If you kill 3 people, you don't get to go to jail for 8 years and be done. You die. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can't "undo" a crime. The purpose of a punishment should be to rehabilitate the convict, not reverse his or her act upon his or herself. A criminal should only be killed when it is deemed he or she cannot be rehabilitated.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Would you be saying that if someone killed your relative or best friend?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Don't help the assholes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If that were true, I would have to die

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do we have a murderer on here?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Like Hammurabi's Code...?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Teehee. That's what I was thinking.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you kill three people, you should be killed three times. However, we don't yet have the technology to do so. So until then, mass murderers will just have to wait in prison.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Waterboarding...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, but what does that have to do with my comment?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's basically killing someone, bringing them back, killing them again, etc.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Something tells me that falls under cruel and unusual punishment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I didn't say it didn't.. I was just pointing out (UNDER THE COMMENTER'S PHILOSOPHY) there is a way to kill someone mulitiple times if they, for example, murdered three people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How does it teach anyone a lesson if the government murders a murderer?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Would you want someone who killed people getting your tax dollars while they sit in jail, with TV, internet, good food, health care, etc.? I'm all for the death penalty, but if we somehow lose it, murderers should at least live in the worst possible conditions. Wouldn't you agree? You might say no right now. But if someone did something to someone you loved, you would think the same way as me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my deffiniton of murder is killing someone innocence, so killing a murder wouldnt be killing someone innocent.....he would be guilty. just my opinion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

EXACTLY

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But only if someone takes out the first eye. If no one takes an eye, then there isn't a problem.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My thoughts exactly, THANK YOU

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about those executions that take place and then they find out the person was innocent?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"An eye an eye makes the whole world blind." Plus it's stupid. It does not teach the criminals a lesson. "Oh I'll steal this loaf of bread. If they catch me I won't have to do anything but pay" Everyone would steal

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Everyone deserves a second chance.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

except hitler. yes, that would be bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i think half of this is correct. i do believe in death penalty when necessary, when somebody blatantly shows no remorse, or commits a truly sick/disturbing crime. however, if you steal, then you deserve jail time because that means you are likely to steal again, you will just be more careful about getting caught.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm with you, I believe in the death penalty in severe cases. Although the book The Green Mile almost persuaded me to think against it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The death penalty I think only applies to those who are such a great threat to society that even when locked away they could cause problems. Otherwise we are being hypocrites, and when would we draw the line? I I killed some one, and authorities killed me, they'd be murderers as well. Why kill people who kill people to show people that killing people is wrong?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

basically an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth... then the whole world would be blind and toothless

by Anonymous 13 years ago

just like the hobo that hangs around my alley

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HAHHAHAHAHAH

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No one deserves the death penalty. The bible clearly states "Thou Shall not kill". Even though the murderer killed, that does not give the govt. the right to do the same. Plus, the govt. is trying to teach a lesson of: Not Killing. I believe the govt. is showing a little hypocrisy by turning around and killing someone else.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So if someone killed 20 people, they should be allowed to live? That's disgusting. Filth like that should not walk the earth. Do you think Hitler should have lived? How about Mussolini? Stalin? The murderers at Columbine? People like that shouldn't be killed?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay I understand where you are coming from and I agree that there shouldn't be people like that alive, but Hitler thought that alot of the people he killed were "filth that should not walk the earth". How can we judge who should be killed? I sometimes wish that god could make those decisions for us. What if we (those who think that people like Hitler should be killed) are in the wrong, and are thinking like those kind of poeople? I couldn't stand the thought of that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"Why must we kill people who kill people to show people that killing people is wrong?"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Reading this the first time you're like, hey that's not too bad of an idea. Then you think about it.....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly. At first, I read it and I thought wow that makes sense. Why not. But then, you get to thinking. "An eye for an eye makes a whole world blind." There are just so many things not right about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Anonymous):I know so many people who heard what communism was, and were like, hey why not, financial equality! Then you actually use your brain, and start shitting bricks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Some people call this the golden rule, Christianity FTW!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm for the death penalty. No one should take an innocent human life. I sound like a broken record for saying this again, but would you want someone that killed a loved one to live? If someone killed 20 people, should they live? Even if they're in jail for their whole lives, they get so many benefits. Your tax dollars could be going to a murderer's food, clothing, TV, internet, bed, health care, etc. Convicted murderers DO get health care. They get whatever they want. They live better than people who did nothing wrong. That's crazy. People who commit mass murders, even one murder, should either be sentenced to death or forced to live like worthless scum. Even attempted murderers whose intention is to kill hundreds of people [like that man from Times Square] should suffer. Their GOAL is to MURDER INNOCENT PEOPLE. Children, babies, blissfully clueless teenagers, expecting mothers. It's sick. They should not live among us. And sometimes, they shouldn't live at all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know where you're from, but they actually don't have a great life. They don't get internet, why would they? Or tv, or the best food, etc. I agree completely, and see where you are coming from. It's just a little sick and way around, though, isn't it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Where I live, they do get some internet and TV time. They get fresh bread and good food. Maybe not where you live, but here, they do.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I kinda think that getting raped in prison until you die is worse then just getting killed by a death sentence because people who murder people probably don't care about their lives all that much so it's kinda like an easy way out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ah, questions simply based on morals. I don't see the reasoning of this post. Revenge never gets anyone anywhere, and revenge seems to be what this post is implying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you only have to pay if you get caught, everyone will try to steal because they won't go to jail.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" but I partly agree with you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what about soldiers and cops, do they need to be killed for killing

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you kill someone for killing someone you are just as bad as them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The death penalty is a sensitive topic, but I like your Idea of if you break/ steal something you have to fix it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My friends mom was raped and murdered, his family suffers everyday and the man that did that is in jail, getting so many benefits it doesn't seem like that much of a punishment. But still I don't see how killing him would fix anything either....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally I think all of you guys who support deth penalty needs to ransack yourself... would you be able to be the executioner? If you're distrubed enough to say yes, would you still support it if the situation was reversed and not a friend of family member of yours had been killed, but was the murdered. Would you still support it if your best friend was facing death? Your mother?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So you're saying that if someone raped someone, they should be raped in return? i don't think your theory will work with every crime lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
