+706 Why did Adam and Eve have bellybuttons, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've never thought about that.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Because the people that draw the sunday school picture books are morons.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

amen.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

IKR! Wouldn't common sense tell them that since the weren't born from a woman they wouldn't have been cut from umbilical cords? People these days...

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I feel like it's the same reason they made Jesus white. It's so that people can relate. When you think of a human you can't but help thing of a belly buttons.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

clever.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Because they were born in heaven before they were put on earth.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I thought Adam was molded or carved from clay and dust, then Eve was made from his rib?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Who said they did?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

the chicken came first (:

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nope. Who told you they did? They weren't born by a human. LOL. They were created from the soil which is only proven by the significant amount of minerals in the human body which can also be found on the soil.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wait... what? You actually believe the birth of Adam and Eve being created from the soil is proven?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hey, just go with it ;)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

they believe that but not that we evolved from monkeys *sigh*

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Or Adam and Eve in general is proven

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Some folks do: http://esoriano.wordpress.com/2007/05/25/from-dust-to-man-a-scientific-proof/

by Anonymous 11 years ago

TROOOLLLLLL IN THE DUNGEON!!!!!!!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

People are silly if they think God wouldn't give Adam and Eve belly buttons so that they didn't consider the belly buttons of their offspring to be deformities- or some other equally logical explanation.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

...Or God got bored and thought that their tummies looked too flat!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yea, he could totally have done that (i mean.. he's God..) I heard a joke about this once it was how did the archaeologist know the 2 mummies he found were adam and eve? (no belly buttons XD)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well they could've been Kyle XY and one of his alien friends....haha just kidding :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha =]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

THEY DON'T!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

because they were never attached to their mothers umbilical cord.... they don't have a mother

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In portraits, they are portrayed as having them...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In portraits people also sometimes have 3 eyes and melted faces... Is that what they looke dlike. How do the painters know they had bellybuttons?Who was their mother if they were the first humans?Where did these " bellybuttons" come from with no umbilical cords? portraits made by some unknown painter are not always reliable sources of history information

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nor is the Bible a reliable source of history information.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Where did he claim it was?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

He didn't, but he's implying that the Bible is in some way a superior source of information than the painters.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In some ways it is. Like, when it comes to people who did and didn't live (besides Adam and Eve), it's accurate. But obviously whether accounts of miracles and things like that are true depend on what you believe.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If it has allegorical stories throughout the book and isn't clear which part of the book is allegory and which is supposedly factual, then it's not a good source of historical information regardless of your personal belief. Besides, you openly admit it's not accurate about Adam and Eve, which is what this post is about.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Books written by some unknown writer are not always reliable sources of history information.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is irrelevant but I know a kid at my school with no bellybutton.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Can't tell if this is serious or not but why don't they?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm being completely serious. He had to have major surgery when he was little, and somehow his belly button got removed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's really weird. Not sure what that would look like.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

To get to the other side

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why is Jesus frequently pictured as an attractive white male

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Christianity is primarily a British religion, where most people are white. if you were going to draw the son of God, would you make him ugly?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, my question was rhetorical. I understand why churches depict him as white and attractive. But I think it says a lot about how strict people are with their religious views. Jesus was a Middle Eastern man who was probably not particularly attractive? Who cares; let's make him an Anglo-Saxan archetype. People didn't eat pork in biblical days? Who cares; we eat pigs now so we're going to selectively ignore that part of the bible. By the way, wasn't it the Romans who started the Christanity craze? And I would think American Christians far outnumber British Catholics nowadays.
