My iPod was jailbroken and I hated it. It made it run so slow, and I couldn't update it or anything. I could only get certain apps for free, and overall it wasn't worth it.

You're right. I tried jailbreaking mine and all it did was screw it up.

I'm not going to risk destroying my iPhone for a couple free apps.

To everyone who jailbroke their phones and it didn't work/ slowed down your iPod : you're doing it wrong. You really have to know what you're doing and what things to download beyond the initial jailbreak if you want the real jailbroken experience. I will never again have an un-jailbroken iPod ever again (well unless Apple "fixes" their stuff, but that probably not going to happen). There is more awesome stuff than just free paid apps!

Jailbreaking isn't hard... and it isn't illegal or piracy either. It just opens up your iOS so that it allows changing of the system files... and although you CAN use that to get free apps or mess up your device, unless you go and delete everything in your system, it really doesn't slow down or affect your device bad in any way.
