First off, if you're going to respond to someones post how about not acting like a Troll? Cus, let's be honest, you're not getting the reaction you wanted. So go creep on 4chan or something. Secondly, a boggart only changes shape when it see's the person it's suppose to be scaring. From inside the cabinet how would the boggart be able to see Moody? It wouldn't. Therefor, it would remain in its natural shape because it is unaware that someone is looking at it. We have to remember that it's not that all people SEE a boggart as something different, it's that a boggart MAKES itself something different for each person. If it's unaware that there's a person to change for, it wouldn't change, and Moody would see the true form of a boggart.

1. Who are you replying to? Are you the same one who posted the second comment? 2. I see no trolling here. 3. Moody never actually said he didn't know what a boggart looks like. Lupin said no one knows what a boggart looks like, but he could have been wrong. 4. Just to try to reconcile the hp world: Maybe boggarts can sense when someone is looking at them without having to see them. Usually the person would have to be in the same room to see the boggart, but maybe the boggart doesn't have to actually be in the same room as the person to take on the form of whatever frightens them.

I may be completely off here, but does the book ever state that Mad-Eye doesn't know what its true form is? Maybe he can see its true form but has no reason to state that at the time.

Well in the third book, it was said that no one knows what a boggart looks like in its natural form, so you'd think he would come forward with this breakthrough. I personally have always believed that it just takes the form of Voldemort when Moody looks through the desk (that's what Moody's boggart is)
