+688 "I'm not Christian. I'm Catholic". A Catholic is a Christian. It's like saying, "I'm not an animal. I'm a zebra.", amirite?

They have different belief 'system'.... christians believe the bible is their guide to jesus/god and catholics believe that the way to jesus/god is the bibble AND the pope

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Catholicism is a denomination of christianity. All of the denominations have different beliefs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Catholicism was there first. People who wanted religious freedom rebelled in the 1600s around Europe. They formed Christianity and it's different branches. The two are not the same.

Catholicism IS a form of Christianity. Yes, they have slightly different beliefs than other Christian religions but all of the denominations do! Can you tell me two different Christian religions that have the EXACT same beliefs? It's not very likely...

Just shows how arrogant Catholics are. :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never met a Catholic who has ever said this. This just shows how stupid people of any religion can be :D

"I'm not an animal, I'm a zebra." This is the reason why I clicked yeah you are.

The word Christian means a follower of Christ and without christ: I Am Nothing ( acronym of last 3 letters) because u r a catholic, pentacostal, baptist, anglican or whatever other crazy branch does not mAke you a Christian... Because you say you are doesn't mean you are... Christians are those who have excepted that Jesus is the only way to heaven and the only way sins can be forgiven... christianity is a way of life

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually, Christianity is a vague religion consisting of branches. These include baptism, lutheran, protestantism, and so on. They all accept that Jesus is the only way to heaven and the only way sins can be forgiven.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I understand that but I'm saying that jst because you attend a church that is considered a "Christian" denomination doesn't make you a Christian... You can be a catholic, baptist, Presbyterian and still not be a Christian... Because you are a member of a church doesn't make you a Christian and this is where soo many go wrong

All Catholics are Christians, not all Christians are Catholics. Catholicism is form a Christian religion. There are many different forms of Christianty, this is one of them.

Christianity and Catholicism are the same inasmuch as they both believe in the one God of the Bible. Otherwise, the belief systems are very different, most notably when it comes to the deity of Mary.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a Catholic. We are Christians. But other Christians protested the pope hence 'protestant' and also, we don't view Mary as a Diety. Or any saint. Idk why Protestants say we do. But whatever. I loved the 'not an animal, I'm a zebra' thinG

My grandmother is Cathoic, and I never understood why she always prays to the blessed mother and says the way to the Son is through Mary. Yes, she was good enough to raise God's son, but did she live the perfect life? Did she die on the cross so that we call could be saved from damnation? No, and as far as i'm concerned, if I need to pray and ask for forgiveness, I can pray to God himself because he is my father. No middleman is required. Also, Catholocism wasn't first. Christians were in the bible. The followers of jesus were named Christians by the people, not by themselves. Christianity was around wayy before Catholocism, it's in there. Despite all of the different beliefs and denominations among Christians, as long as you believe that Jesus died for you and accept him, you're going to heven.

im not a catholic, but im a christian.

its a different form of christianity...like different belifes and crap

Catholics do NOT pray to Mary. We are asking her to pray for us "pray for us oh holy mother of God that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ" "pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death." Just like you'd ask for someone on earth to pray for you, except they(the saints) have a better connection. Simple as that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a christian but I'm not catholic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

omg we don't pray to mary we asker her for blessings!!! just like when you sneeze and someone says bless you okay. Its no different. shut the hell up if you aren't Catholic but you think you know everything about us. we ask the saints to pray for us its no different then if someone in ur family is sick, and you say please pray for them!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What makes you think Mary can bless you? I've been raised surrounded by Catholics, but i never suggested that i know everything about the denomination. I didn't mean that you 'pray' to her so much as you worship her. "Hail Mary". Why should we do that? Yes, she was a great woman, but she was a wretched sinner, just like the rest of us. Yes, she was brave, but anyone can be brave. Asking her to pray for you seems silly to me because God gave us the wonderful gift of prayer so that we could pray directly to him. Would he have sacrificed his son if he didn't love us enough to listen to what we have to say? Asking for blessings from a saint is unnecessary when you have the Lord that wants your time so badly. He's so jealous for you and wants to spend time with you, so why ask blessings of the saints when you could be praying to Him?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We do both its just more prayer power. Just because you don't agree doesn't make you right all I was saying was what we believe I didn't state it as fact, Its what we believe and we don't expect everyone to agree, and we also don't say any one religion is right or wrong we all have our beliefs so why don't you stick to your beliefs and I will with mine
