It's not "soda" it's not "pop" its "Coke", amirite?

What if you're not drinking Coke...? Or are you implying that the only one worth drinking is Coke?

whats the other option, Pepsi? ive just always called it Coke because its seems pointless to specify, they taste the same to me. and its sound really stupid (IMHO) to say "pop"

I hate people who say "pop" too, but I go with the "soda" option... and I was wondering what you call flavored sodas, like Sprite or orange soda or other soft drinks but cola. And I'm more of a Coke person myself anyways, Pepsi overdoes the bubbles haha

hmmm.....good point. i guess if i get a soda, i always get Coke, so yeah. but, if i get something else, ill call it a Sprite or whatever it is. when i posted this i was only thinking of when i hear someone say "pop" i immediately think of Coke, i didnt consider the other drinks.

Some people call any kind of soda "coke" "Would you like a drink?" "Do you have any cokes?" "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper." It's a southern thing.

my dad was in the Air Force, so all over the place, haha. but never a small town until i moved here. ive been in a lot of states and Guam, England, and Hawaii.

What people call soft drinks varies in different parts of the U.S. I live in Texas and say I'm gonna get a coke, although it may be a DP or sprite

In Spanish, maybe. My teacher said that they use "coca-cola" for soda. That's just my teacher. I've never actually listened to an exchange between a Spanish person asking for a soda, but whatever.

Who cares how it's said, it's all the same thing. People who say they hate certain people because they use a certain term really need to mature and get their head out of their ass. It's a regional thing and if you grow up to say it that way it's just what you know.

It's pop in Illinois. If you say soda you get sooo many dirty looks... I've never even met someone who refers to all pop as Coke...

I call it soda, but where I live about half the people call it soda and the other half say coke. I absolutely can't stand when people say pop though.

Actually it is both. All 3 actually. It can be any. But coke is a shortening of Coca-Cola, a specific brand. I can't imagine anyone who would call Fanta, or Sprite "Coke"

I call it soda, but I don't mind when people call it pop. However, it doesn't make sense to refer to all soft drinks as Coke, because that is a brand.

"Soda" is referring to all types of SODA. Coca-cola is a SODA, Sprite is a SODA etc. Be it coca-cola,sprite,fanta, whatever. "Coke" is a shortening of coca-cola. In New Jersey, if I order a "coke" I will get a coca-cola.
