-274 You wish that J.K. Rowling (as amazing as she is) would die so Harry Potter would be considered a classic and you could read it for school, amirite?

As far as I know, the author doesn't have to be dead for it to be considered a classic. I mean, wasn't Fahrenheit 451 a classic before last week?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It doesn't really work that way...

I never wish anyone to die.

I see what you're saying, but lots a books don't become classics just from the author dieing. A lot of the teachers at my school already think of Harry Potter as a classic even though some of them hate it haha. But yeah, we don't really read the books as assignments and that would be fun :P

Reading it as an assignment would take the fun out of it.

Not really, my school included the Hunger Games in our curriculum last year, and it was still a good read.

The Outsiders is considered a classic and S.E. Hinton is still alive.

This reminds me of that old post that said it would be awesome if Anthony died because everyone would post sweet things about him.

1) That's a very messed up thing to say 2) You don't have to be dead for your book to be required reading. 3) Making Harry Potter an assignment would suck the life out of it
