+7,331 It's annoying when a song comes out on the radio that you have been listening to for months and people suddenly think it's the newest and best thing, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

OH MY GOD I HATE THAT!!! That happens to me SOOO much...ESPECIALLY with Taylor Swift songs.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

ergh i know. im too musically advanced for these people.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Oh yeah, annoying doesn't even begin to tell how irritating it is.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It sucks even more when people try to claim that they heard that song before it was on the radio or something. I'm not saying you do, I'm just sayin'

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Yeah there's this one fan page on Facebook that says something like, "I knew that song before it was popular" and on the wall is all 14 year old girls who say they knew Fireflies a whole 2 months before it came out on the radio... mainstreamers suck.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

This is my biggest pet peeve in the whole world!!! Example: I got Fireflies by Owl City like 5 months before it came out on the radio and then when it started getting overplayed everyone was like, "00000mg guyzz i luv owl city suuuu much!" but they only knew that one song. Same with Kings Of Leon... fuck Use Somebody.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I couldn't agree more. I mean, I have been listening to owl city for like..... 2 years after I stole my friends music. and it's funny because these kids that claim to have heard owl city way before fireflies, tend to call owl city a band, when in reality, it's one person. I dunno, I could rant about music alllll day.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Exactly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

like there are songs you hear at concerts or off cds (those of us who still buy them) then the songs dont come out on the radio for a few months and they are called the newest thing....

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Yeah, there is nothing more annoying than people enjoying the same thing as you. I mean, who are these passers, liking a song because it's on the radio and they've never heard it before but find it catchy. God, don't they know that true music fans have already heard everything on the radio, and get advanced copies of every new release, and don't listen to music because they dig it but because it's unheard of and obscure - the two truest ways to judge a music's quality. And what does it say about me if other people -no, worse MAINSTREAM people like the same thing! Don't they know I have no personality outside of my carefully created "different"-ness, which is entirely informed by how non-mainstream the things I like are? God, the nerve of these plebes, liking music that I heard first and ruining it for all us cool kids who know better than to like music we hear on the radio.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Nicely written. I give you that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha, tell me about. dont you just want to shoot someone

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Especially with Owl City. They called "Vanilla Twilight" new a few weeks ago. I listened to him WAY before it came on the radio. Now everybody knows the one song "Fireflies" and thinks they're a new band. FAIL

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Oh yeah. I remember WWWAAAYYY back when 3OH!3 was still a band without a record deal...

by Anonymous 14 years ago

May I say Jason Mraz? I was listening to that song in the beginning of 2007, then about the end of the year when school restarted, everybody was obsessed with the one song, and I just rolled my eyes and called each and every one of them a poser...

by Anonymous 14 years ago

How are they posers if they actually like that one song? Just because you heard first doesn't mean they like it any less.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, Hide n' Seek... that was my favorite song 5 years ago, then freaking Jason D-whatever his last name is came and covered it and his version totally sucked! The song was beautiful without any rapping and now whenever I hear someone else singing J.D.'s version, I just continue with the song and they look at me like I'm crazy. (If you don't know the original song, its called Hide And Seek by Imogen Heap).

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Totally. It was on the OC in 2004 or 05...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

shut up. You should be happy that you were good enough to discover it early, not pissed that the world is stealing your song. Excuse the anger, its just that every girl i know says this

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Fireflie Owl City. Fall For You Secondhand Serenade. Good Girls Go Bad Cobra Starship. Ignorance Paramore. I could go on all day.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm Awesome by Spose?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like this one: My sister heard "Drift Away" by Dobie Gray on the bus. Started singing along. She knows a lot of the lyrics, since we've been listening to that song since we were little kids. Another person looks at her: "How do you know the lyrics to that? It just came out!" As she told me that story, I was listening to the song. I looked at the album: Hits from the 80s.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

THIS IS TOO TRUE!!!! happened with me and les misrable i dream a dream before susan boyle no one knew that song

by Anonymous 13 years ago

GET OVER YOURSELVES. If you enjoy it, why should you care what others think?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not that i care so much it's just annoying. mostly when you know this song and show it to others before it became popular and they all don't really like and when it goes on the radio they love it...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ugh, If You Only Knew by Shinedown. That CD come out in 2008, and they started playing it around the beginning of 2010, I think. I dislike it when there's a song with a lot of meaning that plays constantly on the radio until it starts to get annoying. That song used to mean something to me and now I can't even listen to the first few bars without rolling my eyes. Sirius Hits will be the death of music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So... what are you saying? If I hear a song on the radio, I'm not allowed to like it, because you liked it first?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just The Way You Are...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That doesn't count because it's a CRAPPY song! :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think the main problem is when the new, all-of-a-sudden-popular song was .. 'Yours' first. You heard it, loved it and claimed it before anybody else because it felt like it spoke to only you. Of course others are allowed to like it, too, but they often doesn't appreciate it the way you know it deserves to be. And when you then says that YOU like the song, in their eyes you just become 'another person who likes the song' - Wow, what a surprise, you know ? And that's unair.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

for me it was tik tok-new it november 09-popular may 10

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Deffinatly happened to me with K'naan I found out about him from one of my friends who saw him in a small cafe or something in Vancouver in the summer of 2009, i loved his music and made all my friends listen, and there like "yea, whatever". then in like, what, march or april after the haite earthquake everyones like "OMG K'NAAN WAVING FLAG ITS NOT EVERN THE ORIGINAL VERSION OMGOMGOMGOMG" needless to say i was quite annoyed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same as when you've been doing something for ages, but then someone else "Starts a trend."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

One of my favorite bands, The Ready Set. I heard one of their songs on the radio and I thought my iPod was going off in my bag or something. I think it's just feeling like it's your special thing and once everyone else likes it it's like they're taking it and it's not so special anymore.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I loved The Ready Set for a while, but then "Love Like Woe" came out and everybody's obsessing over that song. I mean, it is VERY catchy, but Tantrum Castle had better songs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know it's not off Tantrum Castle but 68 Degrees. One of my favorites and oh, so much better than Love Like Woe

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, The Ready Set is one person. He just chose to use The Ready Set because his last name is VERY hard to pronounce and spell.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He's really just the face, but if you look on their youtube channel they have interviews and stuff with the rest of the band.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OMG this happened to me! I got "hey soul sister" by train, like the moment it came out, because i like train a lot, and then it became a one-hit-wonder and like noone even knew the artist name and yet they were like "omg this is my favorite song!"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The same thing happened to me! Train is one of my dad's favorite bands and I'd been listening to them for about eight years before "Hey Soul Sister" came out. To be honest, I like "Drops of Jupiter" MUCH better.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hipsters, much? Be glad they made it to the radio and got more fans instead of complaining that you heard it first.
