No, they're not to be realistic but to make people want to join, just like in clothing ads and such they use attractive people making potential consumers think they'll look like that. Overweight people working out would make some people think it's pointless since they're working out and they're fat, but fit people would make people think "Wow, I can look like that once I join!"
