+562 #: The average person says "number." The frequent texter/telephoner says "pound." The musician says "sharp." The little kid says the "tic-tac-toe board." The nerd says "octothorpe." amirite?

I say hash.... must be an aussie thing, thats all i've ever known it as...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Me too. And I'm also an Aussie, so maybe you're right.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I say hash too, that's how the UK says it. Although its a sharp as well :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

me too! hash

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pound. It's a fucking pound sign. Everyone else is wrong. Or should I say every1?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No offence, but how is it a pound sign?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's what it's called for phones. Like when you're calling something that tells you to press numbers, "Please press pound if you would like to continue." or something, you would press the number/sharp/pound/tic-tac-toe board/octothorpe. #

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ohh...In the Rep of Ireland the phone says press the hash button haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ohhh. Eh gosh. I sound like a stupid second grader... Why can't the world agree on a name for # and be done with it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, don't worry about it. Because people like to confuse people >:( lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People are just cruel.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, yes they are...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sharp. Everyone knows it's a sharp.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Octothorpe!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was told it was pound, so that's what I say...unless it's in front of a number, then it's the number sign. Though I don't know when it's not in front of a number...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In England if you're on an automated phone thing it says "press the hash key" rather than the "pound key" like in America, so if it's on a phone or something I always call it that. But if it's right before a digit its number. Like "#1" is "number 1". And sometimes for a giggle I call it the waffle key :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sharp :DD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the only reason i don't call it a sharp is because theres not flat key. haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

**no

by Anonymous 13 years ago
