People who say music is their life usually don't know what the heck middle C is, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
From what i know middle C is actually the note C, that note between two staves of the grand staff.
Of course i could be wrong.

Well, there are several notes between the treble and bass clefs, not just middle C.
But I think C was chosen because C Major is considered a "neutral" scale because it has no sharps or flats. It's just a good reference point.

actually, i believe its middle C because the treble clef was originally used for sopranos and bass clef for basses (alto and tenor clefs are now only used for violas, trombones, and bassoons, but hundreds of years ago were used in choral music as well) and the note middle c was comfortable for both sopranos and basses (and all between)

Not all incredible musicians can read music, I'm thankful that I can. But the people who say it's their life just because they listen to their iPod a lot... That's just not right.

DUHH, C is between B and D, in the Middle. It's called the alphabet.

According to my music teacher from 6th grade, it's the note between the bass and treble staffs [or whatever they're called...My chorus teacher doesn't really talk about it] and that note happens to be C.

That's the grade I get when I try to retake any of my fourth grade classes.

It's C4, the fourth C from the bottom of a full piano.

There is way more to music than the western-style octave. there are other cultures out there too you know. open up your mind honey.

It's thr middle note between the two staffs, also the middle note on a full sized piano

When I was 6 my piano teacher always had me put both my thumbs on middle C to start playing. That's about all I remember, I stopped playing when I turned 8.
