+304 It's kind of annoying when kids say their life is music, but they have yet to be in Marching band where you actually live, breathe and dream about it, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't have to be in a band to enjoy music ...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They're not talking about just enjoying music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

fair enough haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, next time I'll play clarinet or something instead of violin. What WAS I thinking?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are different kind of music. Maybe they love to play rock or they love to rap. Either way, you don't need to be in a marching band to be all about music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What if you're in choir..? My voice is my instrument, and marching band doesn't seem like something I want to do..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe they're singers or actually play sports. Or their instrument isn't in marching.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mustaches.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

marching band is not real music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

okay everyone stop pissing your pants about this, you dont know how much work is put into marching band, hey maybe you should go do it, unlike others, marching band takes alot of energy. im pretty sure half of you would want to quit if you had to get out there.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...That's not the point, though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, thats what I was trying to say. Thanks for speaking for me though. It's a really nice thought.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i'm in marching band... everyone in our band hates it. if you think that playing meaningless pop music in the rain, out of tune is music... then there's something wrong with you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I could not agree with you more! That's exactly why I don't do marching band

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well thats your band... we dont play meaningless pop music, we dont even play pop music, we play stuff that has value. Oh and just because your band isnt good, doesnt mean you have to go around bashing marching band in general.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Beatles didn't do marching band, did they? Did Michael Jackson? Did Eminem, or any other famous singer/rapper? No? I guess they don't know music at all, then, right? They can't be half as enthusiastic about music as a kid who does marching band! :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HAHAH thank you. it's like ohmygod, look at that kid in marching band. i bet he appreciates music alot more then Michael Jackson or like the people of Led Zeppelin. HA.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is a very stupid post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Only nerds do marching band.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i know alot of people in marching band. i kinda have to agree but i have to disagree. but i agree more then i disagree becuase all the kids do is talk about how awesome it is and its like... stfu

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So we're not allowed to talk about something we love? If you're in marching band and you enjoy it, you're going to talk about it a lot because you spend more than half your time there.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh yes i know you guys love it trust me, 4 of my best friends are in it. im not saying that necessarily you all do it, its just MY friends that do. i kind of feel left out of the circle that's all

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ah. I know I do, but all of my close friends are in band or guard, so they do, too. That really sucks that you're kinda out of the circle. :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah like marching band does all this fun crap and then my friends talk about it and have inside jokes from marching band and its like.. gee thanks

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, this is a stupid post but DO NOT trash marching band just because it pissed you off. I'm in marching band and WE DO music, it's hard as hell. You have to focus on thirty different things all at once just to play good, try marching good and looking good. It's harder than it looks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this post should include jazz band, orchestra, choir, piano players and anything else that involves performing(: cause believe me those people "live, breath and dream about music " also.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you. I'd like to see OP try show choir and then pass judgment. My friends are all in band, and they act the same way, like their entire lives are marching band and everyone else is second-rate. But I'd like to see them try singing and dancing at the same time and then talk about how "easy" it is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you're in marching band, it pretty much is your life... I don't think show choir kids understand marching band and vice versa. I'm just gonna say, a lot of marching band shows have dancing and singing along with all the usual marching, choreography, playing, etc.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess I can agree for the most part, except for choir, until you go pro, because a lot of my friends say its just a period in their school day with 3 after school in-a-gym concerts a year. But you're right. This post should/can apply to all those people- the problem is, I'm only in band. I can't have the same first-hand appreciation for those talents.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Shut up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am in marching band, but this post is as idiotic as they come. Sure, I love it, and we play music, and it is my life, but that doesnt mean that anyone who isn't in it doesn't like music. I think that it is more like, the 12 year olds who only know pop music, and nothing of classical or meaningful music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think they were just using marching band as an example of people whose lives really are music. Obviously, kids in orchestra, choir, kids who are in a band and some other examples that I'm probably forgetting about probably have their lives revolve around music, too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Someone with reason, thank you. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hehe. :) Yes, occasionally I do have reason. But only occasionally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Occasionally is good enough.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This post is fucking retarded.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah, i respect anyone who can get in front of a group of people and perform really well(:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All I'm saying is it's a lot of work, and that everytime I have to reherse (4 hours monday, 1 Tues-fri, 12 hour all day sat. competitions) I make music. OF COURSE you can love, live and enjoy music without being a rockstar or in band (which aren't the same thing) but you really start to understand and think about rhythm, melody, tone and power when you have 189 kids (exactly in my band, playing. this excludes colorguard) playing. I feel like too many of you are taking this post way to literally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it kinda depends on your school, since my old high school was a performing arts school all of our departments worked hard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't have to be in marching band in order to make music a life commitment. I don't participate in my school's marching band BECAUSE it lacks musical integrity thanks to our joke of a director. If you think music is embodied by marching band, well then I would have to disagree with you. I'm pretty sure the fact that I practice 2 hours daily, participate in multiple concert ensembles and attend as many of the concerts (band, orchestra and choir) as I can that the near by university holds constitutes as being pretty dedicated to music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If I were to say that my life is music, I'd probably be referring to the fact that I have played the piano all my life and go to concerts every weekend as opposed to the fact that I was in the school band
