no my sister got hers at 14 and got rid of it and got another one and lost it at 15 and got another and damaged it at 16 and now my mom says no more cell phones til my eldest sister gets out of the house

12 is still too young.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm 13 and I still don't have one.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't get one until I got my driver's license. I was almost 17.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i was 18

It makes sense to have cell phones earlier on; I didn't get mine until I was 13, and before I did it was always a problem with getting home from sports and other people's houses. I believe you should just add on features as kids grow up. It's always a safe thing to have, but texting for example isn't needed.

I got mine a few weeks before turning fifteen. My sister is do old cell phones weren't popular and a seeming necessity until she got to college.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i got one at 17 without asking

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i was 13, but i only got it because my school is far away. otherwise i wouldve had to wait until freshman year

by Anonymous 12 years ago

same, cept i got mine when i was 12. my school was like, 30 minutes away from my house and not exactly that safe of a place. and I would have had to wait until i was 16...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got mine when I was 8 or 9 (third grade). It was a cheap one though to call my mom and let her know when I was in school. But I never used it so we gave it away then I got mine for my 11th birthday.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was 15, and I didn't have texting. My little sister was 10 and she a qwerty keyboard and unlimited texting -_-

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Technology? Otherwise, that burns, mate.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

14, only because I'm home alone a lot. Even then, it took some time for my parents to decide.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My little cousin was in second grade! Seriously, the only people she texts are her aunts.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was 7 c:

I got one as a reward for doing well in school, my younger brother got one at the same time because my parents needed to keep track of him. Guess what, he got a better phone than me & he got a data plan, which I did not. My parents don't see what's wrong with that

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Trololo, I was the 10 year old :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fifteen, and I had to literally get a poster board and write a speech about why I should have one using the strategies I learned from being on the debate team. And what's worse, I HAVE A FREAKING SERVICE DOG and had been saying for the past TWO YEARS that I should have one in case of a medical emergency. But that's not why they finally got me one, it was because they were so impressed that I went to all the trouble I did. In other news, the eight year old I used to baby-sit for got one for Christmas.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got mine at twelve because I walked home and we found out a robber lived a few houses down from us (he got arrested, but still). I didn't even ask, I didn't want a phone like everyone else.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got an extremely ghetto used flip phone at 13. I got a better one at 14.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My little brother got his at age 10, which was ridiculous enough in itself. Now he's 12, and I just heard my dad say to him "Nicholas, your phone upgrade is coming up soon... you said you wanted an iPhone?" WHAT?!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm 16 and I don't have a phone and I probably won't get one until I graduate. and My parents refuse to buy any of my siblings phones.... :\

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My parents originally said 11, but then all my friends got phones at 10 (I was a summer birthday so one of the last to turn 10) so after a lot of begging, I did too. Then I put it in the washing machine about a month later. It does seem young, but after school I used to walk down to places like the library or the park by myself, and I think my parents were happier with that knowing I had a phone, so I don't see why younger kids shouldn't have them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got my first phone when I was twelve, (after two years of begging) but it was a TracFone, and I had to buy it myself, along with all of the minutes. Then when I was fourteen, I got an actual cell phone, and my parents got one for my 6-year-old brother, so that it was "fair". -.-

*shares story about when I got my phone, and for what reason*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got mine when I was eleven or twelve and going into middle school. The school was a mile and a half away and I had to walk so it was for safety. I didn't get texting until later.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't really see why people call me spoiled. my first phone was a hand-me-down (my dad used it, and he manhandles his phones) ghetto flip phone. An older friend of mine called me spoiled because I was getting one and she didn't have one. I also had a good reason: my parents forget to pick me up from places. She didn't have a reason to have a phone, and I honestly never understood why she said that.

I got my first phone at 11, going into sixth grade because I had to ride my bike to school. It was a terrible terrible terrible phone. No texting, no camera, no nothing. I'm going into high school, and there was some plan pricing Driod phones like, $100 off (my dad gets a discount 'cause of work) so they got me and my brother smartphones. My brothers 10; he's going into fifth grade. ono I'm verrrry spoiled, and my brothers even more spoiled than I am. (Example: He gets a new video game every time he gets mad or sad. It's kind of depressing.)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My brother is begging for a phone and an iTouch and he's only eight... I mean, he's already had two PSP's (he broke the first because he dropped it down the stairs, then tried to clean it with soap and water). I think it's ridiculous.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

GET OVER IT! Yeah, phones are a cool invention but honestly, thinking your life's unfair because your parents won't pay for you to get one? If your goal is to reaffirm adult assumptions that all teenagers are ungrateful brainwashed consumers, well done. All I'm trying to say is that theres better things to beg for.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My older sister had to beg for ages and she finally got one when she was 15 and it was sorta cheap. i didnt even want one and one day when i was 12 my parents randomly got me one and it was a qwerty keyboard one so it was alright. then my little brother turns 10 and he gets a frickin Android! My sister was so mad.
