+741 One of the hardest things in life is fully accepting that your dog's getting old, amirite?

My St. Bernard mix is well past her life expectancy. It's really starting to suck, knowing she's not going to be around much longer. :|

Same with me :(. I have Westie (the white little terrier on the fancy dog food commercials) and I got him on my 6th birthday. I'm 17 now and he's 11 and turns 12 in December. I don't know what I'm going to do without him...

Yeah, I'm 17 and got mine when she was 3. I was 10. It's hard to imagine something not being there after it has been for so many important years. Plus as weird as it sounds, she's the goofball in the family. It'll be way to empty without her. At least yours should have another 1 to 4 years. Mine is on borrowed time.

I don't want to seem like a crazy cat lady, but i can totally relate to this with my cat. i got by tabby when i was 7, and now i'm 18 and going to college next year. i don't want to leave because i'm afraid that i'm not going to be there when it finally happens :/. it sucks when you have a pet for so long because they really become your best friend, and no matter what happens they'll always be there, but you know they won't be around much longer.

Yeah, that moment when your playing with your dog, and you realize he is gray and he is not moving that fast. :( I love my pug. All of our dogs have lived passed 14 but it never gets easier. :(
