-85 America did so much better when they trusted God with everything, amirite?

There was never a time when we trusted God with everything... But if you're talking about the old days when almost everyone was a devout Christian, let me remind you of the Genocide of the native Americans and slavery.

BreakfastFan, you are my hero. Undeniable point.

Hmm well there's a recesiom happening right now so I would say before it was worse plus I was talking about the time after slavery was abolished ohh and the genocide happened before America was a free country

Nice try, but it's obvious you're "trolling" (god I hate that word). Try to be a bit less obvious next time?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wouldn't***

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But you didn't notice "recesiom" or the missing punctuation? Also, since when is a recession worse than genocide?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You mean like in the 1950s, when one of the only things that separated us from the commies was our faith?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can't tell if trolling or serious.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A little of either, really.

Look into your history book; flip to the section that is called Dark Ages. This is why you are wrong.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

btw i know america wasn't around then...but that's the gist of what america would be if we focused solely on God and nothing else.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm sorry, when was this? We must have skipped it in every history class I've ever had.

Nothing is better when you entrust god with everything. Not just America but in any case. The Pope gave the people hope completely with "God is on our side" and they lost almost all of the crusades. God is amazing but he's not going to come down and win wars and run the country. Let's look at America back when we entrusted God with everything. Slavery, Genocide of Natives, Harsher Racism, Less technology, Not as powerful industrially and militarily and we weren't making as much progress. Like I said before God is amazing but he's not going to do everything for us if we just sit back. We're in a relatively peaceful state right now.

Except when He gives us unalienable rights. I don't care if your christian or not, the the idea that God gave His people inalienable rights put America ahead of all other countries at the time.

I'm not saying religion having complete control over the government is good, I'm just drawing the line on what people did and what God did.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I am not going to have a debate about god and religion right now, but that is besides the point. I was saying that America gave it's citizens rights that were not provided by government, and therefore cannot be taken away by government. America at that time became a model nation for the world we know today. At the present America may not be perfect or the best, but it started the world on the road to democracy and freedom.

God didn't give us any "unanlienable rights"...The government did. If the founding fathers of America, or the government right now decided to say fuck you citizens, you get nothing! God wouldn't come down and strike them with lightning for taking away rights that He gave us...because he didn't give us shit. The "Creator" comment was merely added in so that immigrants would get the same treatment as citizens.
