(Tennis hater): Tennis is hard especially if you play singles -- you're running back and forth non-stop. It's not like soccer when you sometimes have to wait for the ball to come near you. In tennis you always have to be ready, plus, if you're playing against a skilled opponent, they can make you run back and forth all day. Plus it is really really hard to get good aim...and to serve.

I agree with the tennis thing, but not the soccer thing. When you don't have the ball in soccer, you don't just wait for the ball to come for you, you have to create space and try to get away from your marker. Watch a soccer game with a good team live in the stadium, and you can see how much 1 person runs in a game.

I totally understand what you're saying, but I never said soccer was easy! I just meant like...when the ball is up near the other team's goal, the defensive players don't necessarily have to be running around. I'm just saying that in tennis you're moving 100% of the time, while in soccer, it's a bit less.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Tennis has a ball, points, a winner, etc. all the things that makes something a sport. You can argue that something like cheerleading isn't a sport because it doesn't have those things, but tennis is definitely a sport, and you've obviously never played it if you think it isn't.

It's not just hitting the ball "back and forth." You actually have to know where to hit the ball and control your body movements carefully :/ I bet you hated it because you never played it or you just don't know how to play.

A sport is something that takes physical skill, and mental skill. So technically tennis is a sport (and a difficult one at that) as well as cheerleading (a LOT harder than tennis). Things that wouldn't be considered sports are stupid things like poker.

the physical aspects of sports dont really determine if its a good sport or not. i could invent a sport where two people go at each other with guns, knives, rocket launchers, blowdart, etc. and whoever lives wins. that would be the toughest/"realest" sport by your definition. as a result, the main thing behind sports is the mentality behind it. there are two types of how to win. one is the basic point scoring. the other is the strategy behind it

Wow, OP, what a troll. In case you didn't notice, most tennis players are in better shape than a lot of athletes. Just because it's not as big here in the U.S. as Baseball doesn't mean it's not a sport. Real, competitive tennis is a crazy difficult sport. Obviously you've never played.

even though you are just trying to annoy people ( ithink) i flipped out when i read this. i play high school tennis and its even really hard then. you have to have strength speed agility stamina because you do ALOT of running back and forth and you have to have precision and alot of skill. theres at least seven things you have to do while the ball is coming at you in about three seconds and its so much harder then it looks

Im a tennis player and let me tell you tennis is as much as a sport as football or soccer or basketball, not only does it require one to be physically fit but also requires one to be mentally fit. This might sound stupid but anyone who has played tennis competitively will know what I am talking about. I could write for days about why tennis is a sport but i really dont want to waste my time on explaining something to someone this dumb.
