+728 America: If we weren't so far away from other countries, we'd probably be much less ignorant of other cultures and much less obsessed with British people and their accents, amirite?

clearly u don't know what america is

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you're talking about the United States of America, I hate to break it to you, but Canada is RIGHT THERE.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Speak for yourself, I'm not ignorant of other cultures... but I do love the British and their accents... :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

but Canada isn't enough of a different culture to count :p compared to the difference between, say, the USA's culture and India's culture

I disagree with this post, but not for the normal reasons. I don't think being close to other countries would change anything. I mean look at the way we think Canadiens act. (American's impression of a Canadien) "So, eh, you wanna go play some hockey, eh?" And Mexico is just as bad if not worse.

Really now, so not only being ignorant of Canadians who accept many other cultures and are attached to you by the same large land mass, from the way that is said...it just makes Americans sound lazy and ignorant of everyone but themselves.

Are you kidding? We Americans care too much about other countries to the point they hate us for it. We try helping people before ourselves and we get into other peoples business toooo much. One of many reasons why America is soo disliked.

Translation: 'We are so good people envy us.Haters gonna hate'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A lot of us actually like to learn about other countries...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think where you are in the world makes no difference, Us down here in Australia are ages away from everything and we are still well cultured

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, you do seem to call us 'British'. That's culturally ignorant. We prefer 'English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish'. The British Isles is made up of 4 individual countries, not 1. Thanks. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Although that is better than just calling everyone English

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Australians and well cultured in the same sentance? What bullshit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Someone has never been to Australia.

I'm from New Zealand. How much further away could you get? And yet I'm still cultured in all different sorts of countries, I make more of an effort to learn about and go to different countries even though it's much more expensive.
