It is strange when people are sad that someone rejected them...sure, you can be sad for a little while, but it doesn't make sense why someone would want a boyfriend/girlfriend that doesn't like them. amirite?

Because they'd hoped/thought that the person liked them back, and when they get rejected, they know that the person doesn't.

Yes, but sometimes you can't move on, because you really like them. I've listened to my crush tell me how much he likes another girl and still like him. It's possible.
