A father should never hit their daughter, amirite?

Not like a murderous hit, but as discipline. If a daughter robs a bank or steals a car, I think the father would be right to hit her. If this post excluded discipline, I'm sorry. That's just my opinion, though,

No. I disagree. But then again, I disagree with the post. "Spare the rod, spoil the child." You have to have corporal punishment as a child, or they just don't learn. Also, It should read "A father should never hit HIS daughter." Because father has to be male.

Parents should never HIT their child. Spank or strike in that way? If the situation calls for it. But hitting, punching, slapping, etc should not be used EVER, even for disciplinary matters.

Mothers can slap a teenaged boy, in my opinion. If he's being completely rude, and calls her a whore or what not. But any child under ten, spankings only.

That may be an acceptable case, depending on one's view. But in the case of the post, which you have apparently disagreed with, a father (a male, a stronger human), should NEVER *hit* his daughter (a female, weaker human). The case you described is not the one mentioned in the post, so that is not a reason for you to disagree with it. Also; HIT infers abuse, not discipline, as you mentioned in your comment above. ("Spare the rod, spoil the child.")

I was talking to the person I replied to, not OP in that instance. I mean, I completely agree that the father shouldn't strike his daughter. That is unacceptable. Too bad OP was anonymous. She could clear this up.

Because females are built with a less sturdy structure (with the few rare exceptions). That's a scientific fact. Not that all males could overpower any female. But the way humans are born, that is how it is.

Not a problem... As discipline, I guarantee it's one of the most effective methods. Just don't overdo it. The parents shouldn't just hit the kid without reason, or because they are mad, but if the kid does something wrong, they should give him/her a talk, and spank him or her.

I don't even think spankings are okay. When I have children, I'm not going to hit them. "Spare the rod, spoil the child," is bullshit. My mother uses it as an excuse to beat my sister and I when she's annoyed or mad. I will never hurt my child intentionally even if it is just to teach them right from wrong. When I tell people that they're like, "your children are going to run all over you," but I'll still punish them, just with no violence. I'd rather them be a bit spoiled, than scared of getting hit for making mistakes or doing something wrong or having an accident.

parents shouldn't hit their child. there are much more creative ways to punish someone than physically abuse them because if its done enough, the child can become traumatized and have their life ruined.
