The show is there to show other teens not to make the mistake of gettin pregnant, not to put people in the spotlight.

Yes it is, but none of them wanted to get pregnant. It's there to show how hard it is to be a teenage Mum, only people with something wrong with would still want to get pregnant after watching. Besides, if people are going to have sex, a Tv programme isn't going to stop them.

its like teaching sex ed, if you ignore it it wont go away, it just wont be talked about. only with knowledge can we stop it, the more we talk about it the more we understand it

Ummm I'm pretty sure years ago girls around said age were getting impregnated by men far older than them...as there husbands. But i dont want to argue I'm just putting that out there.

out of all of the young pregnant girls out there, what are the chances that they will be on the show. if your made about people getting pregnant on purpose to get on the show dont hate the show, hate the people that should be filtering out the people that get prego for attention

They do get paid. And besides, the show makes it seem like raising a kid at sixteen is so easy, because the parents of the girl basically do half the stuff. And I'm pretty sure the guy gets paid, too, otherwise why did so many of them stick around and actually get jobs? And all the girls' friends actually act kind of happy for them. The show might have been there in the first place to show kids that it's wrong, but it's definitely sending off the wrong message, regardless of the producers' intentions.

pretty much. I knew a girl who last year who got herself pregnant to be on the show and when her parents wouldn't let her she got an abortion.

16 yr olds r not fit 2 be parents. The babies end up fucked later on in life. If a 16 yr old gets pregnant they should abort.

There's a girl at my school whose mom had her in high school. She's going to be a sophomore this year, is in honors level classes and is doing very well. I'm just saying, sometimes, things work out.

and in 5 years it will be THIRTEEN and pregnant, like "hey everybody, today is my fourteenth birthday and my baby is due in 5 weeks"

But the show also proves that things can happen and what its like. Only one couple in both seasons of 16 and pregnant was strong enough to give the baby up knowing they couldn't handle it when the baby was born, now they are engaged to be married. And the one girl who had twins kept them and is pulling thru to help them have a good life. It shows that things can happen, twins, adoption or no father.

Sometimes being a good parent means giving up your baby, having an abortion, or postponing your dreams for many many years. That's neither here nor there. America has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the world. Why? Because everyone in America is censoring sex, but no one in America wants to talk about sex. It has to be one or the other or else you end up with a state like Texas, where teenage pregnancy is an Olympic sport. Thanks to the efforts of shows like teen mom and the secret life and activist pushing for better sex education classes, teen pregnancy in 2010 was at its lowest since the mid 1940s. So to be honest, I think teen mom is a stupid stupid show. But if it helps one little girl make the decision to wait or ask her parents to educate her about sex, then it's ok in my book.
