+255 Truth, in matters of religion, is simply the opinion which has survived, amirite?

Or...the truth! Imagine that.

None of it's the truth... Relgion is like a rumor that keeps changing with every person who retells it. There were many religions before the modern ones and those people beleived they were right too. Btw, have you ever heard of the Gnostics?

the self-righteous tone in which you speak is laughable, the way that you try and tell me what I believe is wrong. Who are we kidding, I'll tell you you're wrong. As for gnostics, I don't get it, it sounds like picking and choosing in what you'd like to believe, a little bit if everything.

I was talking about the sect of Christianity called the Gnostics. It was an alternate version of Christianity in the 3rd century that could have become the mainstream version. If it had, you would beleive a somewhat different story then you do today, but you would be just as sure that you're right.

Well here's the deal, I don't believe anything I hear, just whatever is in the Bible because that's what is true.

Muslims are absolutley convnced that the Koran is true. Same with Jews and the Torah. They have the same amount of evidence as you, which is next to nothing. Whose to say you're right. If you weren't born to Christian parents in a mostly Christian country, you wouldn't be a Christian. If you were Saudi Arabian, you would be just as enthralled by Muhammad as you are with Jesus. How can be sure that you're specific version of religion is any more correct then the thousands of others that have existed, currently exist, and will be created in the future?

*your. Damn iPod...

funny, I've wondered the same thing, and I'm not sure that it's as easy to explain as it is to believe. Anyways, it seems that they all have part of the truth, but the Bible is all if it. Any race can become a Christian however they for the most part follow the norm. And I realize arguing is senseless over the internet, but I don't want to argue, just want you to know that *everybody* thinks they are right, but in the end only one is. So we can keep debating or move on and hope the truth can be shown easier to one of us.

I'm just trying to make the point that if I were to subscribe to a religion, I would be a simple theist instead of beleiving in a specific story. Buts I can see that neither of us are going to convince the other, but I'm glad that we didn't get pissed off beyond reason. Have a good one :)

i don't mean to start an argument but maybe do some more research before you make such claims. The proof to my religion is overwhelming and no one brainwashed me into it I came to my own conclusions. Of course not all religious people can be right about their religion but it's still important to believe that you are.

If you really did convert to Christianity from somethig else, then what I said certainly doesn't apply to you. But if your parents brought you to church everyday since you were a toddler and told you about the Bible and nothing else, then you definetly did not reach your own conclusions. And as for doing more research, I went to a Cathoclic school for a few years and was raised Christian, so I think I'm covered.

actually i'm jewish. I was raised jewish and left it completely. When I started looking into religion again it was with a purely open mind. I can't say my upbringing didn't have an influence on me because that wouldn't make sense, but the last thing i wanted at that stage of my life was to go back to something i actively left. It was a hard decision and i still sometimes think i'm crazy because it's hard to admit you were wrong about your own life. I would never try to push my religion on someone else but for myself i believe with one hundred percent certainty that it is absolute truth. Not every religion is the same. If you have reason to believe that one isn't true you can try looking into more. Judaism never gave me reason to leave but it sure as hell gave me reason to come back.
