I always found it weird that all her stuff changed at midnight while the glass shoe remained completely intact

Magic :) Also, in a different version she needs to leave to finish her chores, and a bird drops the shoe on the princes lap.

In the original her shoes were made of fur but that was mistranslated.

Well.... that's why it fell off... because it was hard for her to run in. Hahah :) I don't know. There is a certain kind of glass you can make, by substituting like potassium or something, and the glass is really strong. You can smash a bowling ball onto it and it won't break. Plus, they were magical!
