Summer reading sucks, we all have better things to do, amirite?

I get to read Dracula and Frakenstien for my AP lit class :D
by Anonymous12 years ago
Good luck. I could only force myself half way through Frankenstein. Sparknotes just barely got me through that test...

Wonderful books! I read Frakenstien during my sophomore year and loved it. For our AP class, we can read any books that have literary merit. I'm planning on reading A Tale of Two Cities and Catch-22, because I adore Dickens and I love dystopian novels.

Ugh i hare a tale of two cities. With a passion. That is the only book all last year that we were assigned that I didn't read.all I can say is thank God for sparknotes

*hate

Yeah, I've heard that some people hated that book, but sometimes, my opinion are different. Almost everyone I know that read The Scarlet Letter loathed it, but it was my favorite of the "outside reading books" that accompanied it.

Ugh, I HATED Frankenstein.
by Anonymous12 years ago
aww man i was looking forward to it! dang it :P

The guy's name isn't even Frakenstein. Frakenstein is his creator's name. I heard it was a terrible book, and I am really glad our teacher didn't make us read it this year since she made all her past students read it.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well yea everyone knows that Frakenstien is the creator's name, thats why he's called Frankenstiens monster
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well then apparently I'm not everyone. Then again, I did just recently find out that "fat man and little boy" were codenames for bombs. Have fun reading it though. It shouldn't be too bad. One of the only bad thing people said about it was that the creation of the monster was only a small part of it.

I mean, you might like it, but I certainly didn't. I had to read it about a month and a half ago, and I only got through that unit of Brit Lit because of sparknotes, tbh.

I dunno, i have a very odd taste in the books we read for school
by Anonymous12 years ago
I mean, I LOVED Macbeth, when most people in my class hated it, and then again, I despised The Giver (we read it two years ago) when most people liked it... So my taste is a little questionable too.
by Anonymous12 years ago
i liked Macbeth, mostly because i go to read the part of banquo and Maduff's son, who both die, but it was an enjoyable story, i just felt the ending was really rushed. Lets see, oh I HATE farenhiet 451, i also hate any biography and narrative we've read. i really really liked Gatsby, and lord of the flies, and i guess everything else I was just sort of content with. I really like the Frankenstein movie though, and I was hoping the book would be just as good/better
by Anonymous12 years ago
I hated Gatsby (we read it last year), and Lord of the Flies was okay. I mean, I didn't dread going home everyday to read it, but I also didn't go home all excited and stuff. I liked Walk Two Moons (we read that in middle school, haha), Macbeth, The Elephant Man, and Loves Music Loves to Dance. I didn't like Grapes of Wrath, The Great Gatsby, The Giver, Frankenstein, and I really can't think of anymore... This summer, I get to read Things They Carried and The Lovely Bones (I've seen the movie, and it's really good).
by Anonymous12 years ago
I read the lovley bones before i saw the movie, and I LOVED the book, the movie was a huge disappointment to me
by Anonymous12 years ago
I hope I like the book better, haha (:
by Anonymous12 years ago
You probably will, everyone I know that has read it say the book is way better
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yea, that's what my sister said...
by Anonymous12 years ago
We should at least be able to read what we want (as long as it's "appropriate")
by Anonymous12 years ago
Exactly! I've hated almost all the books that have ever been assigned to me to read. Don't get me wrong. I love reading, but the books they assign us are all so boring and depressing. In every single book we've read this year someone has died.

I have to read and do book notes for four books...I hate IB
by Anonymous12 years ago
Woah! Who is that? ^
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm going into IB and we only have 2. The narrative of Fredrick douglas and farenheit 452
by Anonymous12 years ago
*451 gahh I hate iPods sometimes
by Anonymous12 years ago
Farenheit 451 is a FANTASTIC book. One of my all-time favorites.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Then I hope it's good!
by Anonymous12 years ago
This many people don't have anything better to do? sad...
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm one of the lucky few who's never had summer reading. :P
by Anonymous12 years ago
I would lose my mind if I had to spend the entire summer without books.
