+486 Wal-Mart would be such an awesome store to go to if they didn't partake in unethical foreign labor and they gave their employees benefits...then again, that would probably jack all the prices up, amirite?

i work at walmart and you wouldnt believe the amount of benefits that place gives us. you obviously dont know anything about it.

At my local Walmart, they only hire 4 cashiers during SATURDAY AFTERNOONS, when there are dozens of people trying to check out at any given time. And one cashier there always complains about how the company cheats him out of fair compensation.

yeah, YOUR walmart. not all of them. at mine they bring in a ton of people and if it ends up being a slow day they put them on the floor to straighten up them on the floor to straighten up. im guessing at yours its as pathetic as a kwik-e-mart but the one i work at actually HAS customers giving us a regular bonus and health insurance and enough money to give to foundations, hospitals, and major disasters

But even if Walmart only has 100 stores like the one I'm talking about, that's still enough to negatively impact thousands of employees, and I can't ethically shop at a place like that when there are other profitable countries that make sure 100% of their employees get what they deserve. I have been to a nice Walmart, though, so I'm not trying to say every Walmart is like that.

by saying "they" you imply to all

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, no I don't. "They" refers to Walmart, not the employees.

i think thats what they meant. thing is, enough people shop there, prices arent going up. shoplifters raise prices.

I think they meant the prices would go up if they actually used ethical foreign trade and labor . . . which they don't

Ugh and my local Wal Mart also never puts enough people on. Every time I go there they have only a few people on and lines running all over the front of the store. I think it's safe to say that this is a common thing in Wal Marts, more so than in other stores at least.

the walmart i work at is good to it's employees. as for foreign labor, it is a sad truth in almost any industry, not just in walmart. if you hate walmart, don't shop there. but there are plenty of other places that do the exact same thing

I don't hate Walmart, I just think some of their practices are questionable. I already admitted above that certain stores treat their employees well and others don't. And since Walmart is probably the biggest retailer in the world, it makes sense, their malpractices will have a bigger impact than those of other stores. But you're right, Walmart's not the only company that does it.
