+932 I love my family, but it's not fair that I have to miss my best friend of fifteen years' sweet sixteen to go to the open house of a second cousin who I haven't seen in who knows how long, amirite?

im with u, you should be able to go to your friend's sweet 16. its definitely more important than an open house. i hate when parents get like that. not fair.

I mean, I knew about the open house before I knew when the party was, but my friend is like my sister. And I haven't seen that side of the family in like five years. I wanna see them all again, but I have an epic present that I'm hand making for my best friend that I wanted to give to her at her party.

thats really nice of you to make a handmade present for her. i know, parents think family always comes first, but your friend sounds like one of those family-friends. try making a deal with them. ask them if you can get a certain amount of yeah votes that you can go to her sweet 16.

It's not going to happen, because I'm going straight from the open house to vacation with my grandma.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh. where are you vacationing to? is the sweet 16 at the same day and time as the open house?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We're going on a road trip south. No, it's the night we're leaving though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So I have to go.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh ok. im sorry you have to miss the party though. give the gift to your friend before or after the party. i know shell appreciate it. =]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thanks, I think she'll like it too.

Must you post about your personal life? Try to word it in a way that makes it applicable to everyone, like "It's not fair for parents to expect their kids to miss their important social events to...you get the idea"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm guessing "life isn't fair" came up in the argument.

Ugh, god I hate when my parents pull that one on me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i get wat u mean when you say its not fair. have you asked your parents if you can skip it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Obviously...

(me.): oh funny >:(

i think the worst part about parents (mine at least) is when youre in an argument and all of a sudden they say "Well i know you hate your life and all..." and continue on screaming. no actually i dont hate my life. and i may hate YOU at the moment. but i most certainly do not hate my life. sure i may be an angsty teenager but thats how i am right now and at the moment youre pissing me off. stop yelling. jeez.

Until I started reading the comments, I thought this was describing some tv show that I don't watch...oops.
