+402 People in Florida shouldn't be allowed to own Huskies. They're arctic dogs, amirite?

thats like saying fat people cant own small or skinny dogs.

How is that even remotley similar to what I wrote? I'm just saying that a dog that is native to the arctic shouldn't be made to live in a place that regularly goes above 100 degrees. There are plenty of other good dogs out there who don't have several layers of fur.

obviously they dont mind the heat, or else they would be dropping dead.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sure there's lots of things you mind that don't kill you.

Its never really over 100 degrees here except in the middle of July and August. But it doesnt top 100 regularly. Winter is 60's and 70's, Spring is 80's and 90's. Summer is 90's and sometimes up to 110 at very most. Fall is 80's and 70's. Too hot for a Huskey, but not regularly 100. 80 is the norm here

I had a Siberian Husky, and I live in Kentucky, and it was just fine.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He said Florida.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It can get just as hot here as it can in Florida.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As long as there is AC an water they are fine. I live in Florida, I should know. I think the only reason you shouldn't own one is there aren't any when you go to the shelter.

Then small dogs shouldn't be able to live up north where they can freeze to death.

Has anyone ever seen the Disney movie Snow Dogs?

Damn this is a pointless post

Their fur keeps them cool the same way it keeps them warm...or is that polar bears?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How did this even get on the homepage? That's like saying a Scottish Terrier should only live in Scotland

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, it's like saying that a dog with little/no fur shouldn't live in the arctic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It shouldn't.

I live in Texas and I've owned Huskies my entire life. It's hotter than Florida here and my dogs are just fine.

We live in Georgia and have a husky. During the summer she's miserable in the heat and humidity, but that's easily remedied by providing plenty of water and letting her inside during the hotter part of the day.
