-311 You've been drunk before, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Whoa. How old are the people here

by Anonymous 13 years ago

really almost everyone has at least once

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I said no because I was so drunk I couldn't read the question

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They must all be like 13

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you fail to realize that just because people don't get drunk, doesn't mean they don't drink.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm 16, I've never even drank before. Don't really see the need.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do you want a cookie? No one cares or thinks you're cool because you don't care.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was stating my opinion and explaining why I said No Way. Trust me, I know I'm not cool, and I wasn't looking for others to think I am either.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You do things that you don't "need" to do every single day, so clearly that's not the actual reason you've never drank.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, this is true, I guess I kinda misspoke. It's more like I don't WANT to drink.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 16, I've never been drunk, it's not really something I want to get involved in. It's just not part of my ethics and values. I can spend my time and money doing better things. SO ANYONE WHO HATES ON PEOPLE THAT DON'T DRINK JUST STFU.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm almost 18 and I don't drink heavily. I've been tipsy, believe me. But not drunk.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lol. I used to be just like that...and then I went to a festival, and had some alcohol. You'll see the need some day.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can only assume you were talking to me...anywho. My family is full of alchoholics. I don't plan on turning into that kind of person.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't blame you if you've been in that sort of atmosphere; or @1450207 for that matter, but drinking in moderation is always fun. I'm not addicted to it, and could not drink for long periods at a time. But having the odd night out is a winner! Some of the best times can be had drunk because you do stuff you wouldn't normally do; and in the morning everybody you were with can laugh with you, and you can laugh with them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know a lot of people like that sort of thing, and I don't judge as long as they don't make a habit of it, but I personally like to be in control of my actions. Though, who knows, my opinion may change in the five or so years 'til I can legally drink.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is it...you guys have to wait until you're 21. We can drink at 18, and many drink before! I got drunk at 17 for the first time, and didn't really enjoy alcohol until I was already 18. I went to Reading Festival (huge music festival in the UK) and just downed shit loads of vodka. It was a steep learning curve.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, I don't really understand it. I mean, at eighteen here one is legally considered an adult...they can vote, fight for their country, work a full-time job, yet they can't legally have a drink for three more years? Doesn't really make much sense. Anyway, sorry, rant. But, anyway, yeah, if I ever even thought about drinking before I was of legal age, my mom-who works for our local sheriff's office-would probably kill me. Like, literally, kill me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

True. Alcoholism starts with one drink.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm 23 and have drank before, but never drunk. It is rather dumb to do so in my honest opinion. I have been around drunk people numerous times, and I really just don't like the idea of the activity.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Alcohol tastes like shit. Not planning to get drunk anytime soon.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It tastes pretty good when you're drunk.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes. By accident. When I was nine, my cousins gave me Monster mixed with vodka. I didn't know about the vodka and I didn't have a lot, but being nine, it hit me pretty hard. But I've never been drunk on purpose.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HAHAHAHA. Oh man. Did 9 year old you enjoy it? When I was 4, my Nana took my to Outback and I always got a virgin pina colada. Well one day they fucked up, and it was alcoholic. They had to carry me out of the restaurant. We should have sued and I'd be rich right now.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'll have the occasional shot of Baileys around Christmas but I really don't feel the need to know what my head would feel like full of cotton.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i just had frosh at university and was drunk for 3 straight days....it was pretty awesome. I started drinking when i was 14 and I drank about every other weekend in high school and maintained a 93% average, so it's not like it effected my grades. It's great for getting to know people/make friends and if you know how to drink (aka not getting trashed and sloppy every time)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You neeed to drink to make friends? You must be a loser.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's not what Laura, or anyone else here said. But you do make some awesome friends while drunk - some very, very random Facebook ads. Besides..."BetterThanEzra1119 got 233 Yeah You Ares and 435 No Ways." - The facts speak for themselves...you have no idea what you're talking about.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know how to pick good friends. If anyone has experience with that, it's me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Good for you. Nobody said anything about picking a new set of best friends while you're drunk, but meeting randomers and talking to them afterwards is a great laugh! Sometimes even the random things happen and you never see them again...but it's all about the memory!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, I guess that's cool for you, but I don't need drugs to have fun. I have a hard time not acting crazy, even without drugs. And the people who do drink aren't really the people I want to be friends with. So, if you think you need to be drunk to have fun or talk to people or be confident with yourself or whatever, that's cool. It's all how you feel about it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Again, you're talking absolute rubbish! Who said that I'm constantly drunk or high?! I take my car to the race track and experience adrenaline...we all experience adrenaline. I ride my bike, I do many things to have fun. There's a difference between saying "I occasionally drink and meet new people" and "I'm constantly drunk. All my friends and I met while drunk." Nobody here, or anybody I've ever met, has mentioned the latter. I'm 'more' confident when drunk because I don't think of the consequences, but I can laugh about it in the morning and not care! I'm confident enough sober, so I'm not too bothered in any case!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Who said that I'm constantly drunk or high?!" Well, gee, I don't know. Surely I didn't say that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, but you did say "I don't need drugs to have fun," which implied that I only have fun while I'm on drugs. Seeing as I have fun fairly frequently, and am not under the influence on the majority of such occasions, I'd say that yes; you did say that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Over analyze much? I was just stating how I felt about the topic. No need to get so defensive. Especially over something as stupid as this.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You busted out the quotations first...!! That's where the over-analysing started!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Can I assume that you're not in college? There's a HUGE difference between people who drink and people who rage. Lots of people drink in college, and they could be partying hard and getting trashed, or they could be getting a little drunk with a bunch of good friends. So when you say "people who do drink aren't really the people I want to be friends with" now, I hope you realize that drinking can be a really low-key activity that a lot of really chill people do. Not just shallow queen bees and football players. In all of my experiences with drinking, deciding not to participate is so not a big deal. But I always felt like in HS it was this BIG DECISION LET'S STEAL OUR PARENTS ALCOHOL AND TRY NOT TO GET CAUGHT AND LYK OMG.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, okay. Part of me admires your ability to twist my words around and somehow completely misinterpret them and change the topic. Part of me thinks it's annoying.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Except for the +6 her comment as opposed to the -7 the one she replied to has. I dunno, man, there are conflicting stats here.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's been a while since I did maths, but I'd say that +223/-435 has a bigger gap than +6/-7. But seriously...how old are people in here?! And how narrow minded are some people?! The fact that people don't even want to give it a go and experience something new in life? Most people's tastebuds won't have developed yet...hell I'm 21 and still don't like lager! But don't rule out every trying it...Jesus!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but the +6/-7 has to do with her specific opinion on this matter, so I think it holds more than whatever the +223/-435 is about. But I feel like this is a dumb thing to argue wary I, personally, am 16. I wouldn't call it narrow-minded; couldn't I argue that you're being narrow-minded by not understanding why some people would never want to touch alcohol?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The +6/-7 is based on her opinion on this matter, which seems to be currently debated by people who aren't of legal drinking age yet and, as such, have no (or little) experience on the matter. Although the original topic is "have you ever been drunk?" it has moved on to "no, and I would never want to be." I'd say no; I'm not being narrow-minded. As mentioned earlier, @1450209, I can see why some people would choose not to. But until you've experienced such a widespread and common commodity that is alcohol, you cannot give an accurate opinion as to whether or not you'd like it. Your tastebuds continue to develop throughout life; yet there are 15 year olds here saying that they'll never drink. Hey, I said I didn't see the 'big deal' when I was 15...but then I tried alcohol and learned how much fun you can have when you drink responsibly.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

3 days? Dude, I was a Student Union rep for the Freshers at my uni last year...we did 14 days on the trot!! Felt drained afterwards, but we made some awesome friends and had some awesome times!!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got drunk in Europe... it was my 18th Birthday. It was fun to come out of my shell, but I don't really plan on drinking heavily in the future. Alcohol tastes like crap.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why does everyone keep saying alcohol tastes bad? I like the taste of (good) beer and wine. Also whiskey tastes good. /myopinion

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's interesting to see the different cultures between Brits and Americans, though!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I feel like everyone commenting here is acting like they're too good for alcohol. I keep seeing comments that say stuff like, "I have better things to do than waste my time with that." And I totally agree with you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've never been drunk, but I have taken way too much allergy medication and, according to my family, acted like I was. If being drunk is anything like a Benadryl high I swear I'm never touching a glass.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

One time I took too much nyquil...before school stated. It was a weird day.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I doubt it. According to many people, tripping on diphenhydramine is a terrifying experience and not fun at all. On the other hand, most people seem to enjoy alcohol.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

People who robo trip take the whole bottle. It's pretty shitty until you throw up a couple times and feel better, but it's still pretty shitty. There's a difference between taking a little too much and tripping.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They said Benadryl. Benadryl is a brand of diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Robo-tripping is something completely unrelated, and refers to Robitussin. The chemical in Robitussin is Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. I've robo-tripped several times, and it's actually pretty enjoyable. There are some pretty uncomfortable side-effects, but those are counter-acted with an antihistamine and an antiemetic. It produces a feeling similar to cannabis, but still with a different "character". Tripping on Benadryl, on the other hand, is said to be something like a state of complete delirium with hallucinations often including insects crawling everywhere, and generally full of terror.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I quit reading after the first couple sentences cuz I was like "oh... duh. herp a derp on me"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hahaha, it's okay. I don't generally say anything worthwhile, anyway.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't drink beer. I drink wine. Never got drunk though and I was always in a non-partying environment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In a weird way, I want to get drunk (once) for the purpose of testing my limits. I'm kinda serious about being in control of what I do and what I say all the time; I'd like to see how far my control really goes ....Which sounds like a really odd reason. In other news, I also think alcohol tastes like crap. So, you know, I probably won't ever actually get drunk smirk

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've never been drunk, but it's not because I'm totally against it. I'm only 18 and I want to wait until it's not illegal. My 21st birthday though, I will definitely be getting drunk.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Weird to see what I wrote a year ago... I actually got drunk for the first time last weekend. My old self would be disappointed. Actually my current self is disappointed. I did it only to get rid of my problems if only for a few hours. Stupid idea. I don't like not remembering what I did but thankfully I was just with a few friends watching a movie and didn't do anything stupid. Nobody cares but I felt like recommenting anyways. Haha

by Anonymous 11 years ago

For the younger people posting here, I understand that you think alcohol tastes bad and you may think that you will never like drinking or get drunk. but from experience I will day that tastes and opinions change with age and experience. I'm not promoting alcohol, but there is nothing wrong with an adult drinking in moderation... As far as getting drunk, anyone with drinking experience will tell you that there are good times and bad times. Have I been drunk? Yes Was it always fun? Hell no

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Get fucked up

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nothing's more annoying than the people who think they're above everyone else because they don't drink. I don't drink, and I couldn't care less.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But along with that, those people who think they are cool because they drink can stfu also.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I want to, seem like it wouldn't be horrible but I can't because of medical reasons :( Half a drink and I'm pretty much on the floor because of the pain

by Anonymous 12 years ago

STOP. It's at exactly 200... NOBODY. MOVE.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The number of no ways on this post partially restored my faith in todays youth.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The number of self righteous comments makes me lose my faith a tad bit. Not really. I don't care, I just wanted to be a smart ass.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Lol this makes me sad. Drink more, kiss your friends. Kiss strangers. It's fun.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

#YOLO

by Anonymous 11 years ago

16 & never had a sip of alcohol but still having the time of my life! Not even based off values or fear or unavailability, I just don't want to.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm proud to NW this post. I do drink, fairly often, and there's a lot of alcohol I like, but I know my limits and I've never been drunk, even at parties or early on when I first started. And I've made it this far, so I'm planning on keeping things this way.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't like the thought of me not being completely myself. In fact, I hate just taking any kind of medicene that makes me sleepy because I feel like I don't have complete control. My father had a abusive alcoholic dad growing up, and I know if I ever took even a sip of alcohol he would be so dissapointed in me. I feel like even if I WANTED to drink, I wouldn't have the heart to go against my dad's back and morals.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Only because for any chance that I've had, I've always had to drive home that night...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I got a little tipsy once. I plan on getting drunk once or twice because I want as much experience as I can get before I die, but I have absolutely no interest in consuming alcohol beyond that. I'm not one of those people that preaches that one glass will kill you or whatever, but it's still really bad overall. //Really// bad. Facts aside, I developed an extreme bias against alcohol almost instantly. Back when I was still trying to be in a relationship, I messaged the person so I could try talking to them. She responded with the most horrible, vile message I've seen in my life. The next day she told me she was drunk when she wrote it. Because of that sole incident, alcohol fills me with a completely irrational rage, and it upsets me greatly whenever I hear that someone I care about has been drinking. I realize it's irrational, though, so I try my hardest not to tell them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My sister recently started drinking shit tons of vodka every weekend. Someone's gotta be sober in case she needs a ride home.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think it's dumb that people say that there weren't drunk, but they got a little tipsy or buzzed or whatever they pass it off as. If alcohol is affecting you, then you're drunk.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, because some things in life are too hard to handle sober.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It makes me a tad bit upset that I could change my vote now. Like what the hell has happened the past two years? :(

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wow it's strange to see how it's mostly Americans who actually wait till its legal to drink. Most people in the UK start drinking pretty early on, I was only 14 when I first got drunk. It's probably to do with the British drinking culture and all

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not for thirty years. Was drunk far too often in my twenties Never drink than more two pints at once now.Usually cider these days.
