+239 You never find awesome vintage stuff when you go into thrift stores like you hear about, just ripped and/or stained old clothes that you probably wouldn't have even worn when they were new, amirite?

And usually not that "just-right" vintage either. It's like early 2000s or late 1800s.

it's not just the clothes you find...it's how you wear the clothes you find

Well, I DID once find an exceedingly heavy necklace. It was a mock-gold ball studded with shiny fake diamonds, about twice the size of a malted milk ball. It looked like a fancy chocolate wrapped in gold and it opened up like a locket, although the inside was hollow like a shell and there was no place to put a picture. It was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen but also the most fascinating and the coolest, and I wore it for a few weeks before giving it to one of my friends who, upon seeing it for the first time, had said what I was thinking; that it was fascinating and awesome and ugly all at the same time. All my other trips back to said thrift shop unfortunately resulted in nothing more than an allergy attack.

You don't go to the right places.. There are places like Salvation Army and Good Will, those have outdated stuff in poor condition. If you go to small thrift stores and vintage shops you will find some really cool stuff.
