-126 If the environmental activists weren't so picky on where BP could drill for oil, the oil spill wouldn't have happened, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay, so explain to me how activists being picky, made BP spill oil? Don't tell me about how if they were allowed to drill in shallow water or any of that bullshit. BP has a history of being irresponsible when it comes to environmental issues, they have had oil spills before, in fact in one year in the late 90's they had more than 100 and they are known for dumping toxic waste near Alaska. If there is a reason the only reason we can't blame BP would be because there were not enough restrictions and all of that happened with the Bush Administration not with environmental activists...

Say something to counter it if you actually know what you're talking about, I wrote that sincerely and I'm open to listening why you're right and I'm wrong, or are you just saying that, because you want to be on the opposite side of what everyone is saying, because it's cool? Either way, I want to know what was going on in your mind when you said that

No, it's just that every time I write one of these posts and people comment, it turns into a 50-comment argument. I respect that you took the time to write down your thoughts, but I really don't want to get in another fight.

I won't argue you, I am genuinely interested in the truth, I might have it wrong and if so, then I want to know where, if you tell me why you said what you said earlier, then I will just reply with an okay or gg or even a cheers mate

If the environmentalists didn't tell BP that they could only drill in the unstable environment of the Gulf Coast, then BP would've drilled in a safer, more secure location where the risk of having a spill was much lower. Even if a spill did happen in the location where BP theoretically could've drilled, the outcome would be less disastrous and wouldn't harm as much wildlife.

Hmm okay, I can dig that, I mean I already knew that, but that's fair enough, cheers

And if the Jews were Aryan, the Holocaust would've never happened, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It wasn't the environment that caused it, it was human error. I forget what part exactly since it was so long ago, but there was some sort of alarm (or maybe it was some sort of prevention system?) that would have kept the spill from happening, but the battery was dead.

The blowout preventer was the problem, but they did a lot of other stuff to cut costs that led up to this.
