+693 When you break the 3rd string on your guitar don't yell out, "I just broke my G-string!" Amirite?

Hehe. I ran into my science teacher's room and yelled "MR.T I GOT CRABS!!!!" refering to some fidler crabs I bought. :) he looked at me funny.

I've always wanted to call my teacher Mr. T.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes it is a nice name :)

This post makes me want to purchase a guitar for the sole purpose of breaking it just to say this.

also be careful when playing a string instrument not to shout out that you're fingering a minor. they might take it the wrong way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i will finger your minor, im hard right now lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've done that before :) good times.

Or the fourth string on a violin...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I did this once in music class. It was only slightly awkward..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well you wouldn't say that to begin with because the G-string is the 4th string on any stringed instrument

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not true. It's the 5th on my bass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its the 4th on my bass and guitar and violin and cello. The 4th string is G for standard tuning; EADGBE

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Standard tuning for 6 string bass; BEADGC

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is true. Regardless, my statement technically was correct because the post was about guitar tuning, not 6 string bass.

My friend has a guitar and on his it's 3rd string so... yeah? I think it varies quite a bit

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually on the cello it's the third string, just saying. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's just a matter of whether you're counting from the bottom or the top lol.

or the G-string on a violin. LOL

In the middle of a restaurant one day, i remembered my g string was broken, so I said 'Dad, I need a g string!' whoooole restaurant heard and looked at me funny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well the g string is also the third string on the viola so it's not always fourth, and that isn't as bad as your director stopping rehersal and yelling "Get your bow out of that F hole." The base player was laughing so hard he couldn't take the bow out and we had to stop for a good ten minutes till the orchestra stopped laughing... Good times.

can we stop talking about actual strings on instruments and can we please talk about real G--strings like women wear over their snatch.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no

by Anonymous 13 years ago

aww bummer , i needed some excitement right now. :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it would be the 5th string with a drop c tuning (what i play with) CGCFAD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This happened to me a few weeks ago. My sister broke my G string on my guitar, I didn't stay mad for long after hearing myself yell about her breaking my G string xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ooh lala

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha. This kid in orchestra was tuning his cello on the bus and he messed up and snapped his G-string right at the nut. He kept pestering one of the other cello players to lend him his but he (the other cello player) wouldn't. So 3 weeks later when he bought a new one he was all, "I finally got a new G-string. No thanks to you, Brendan!" Perfect inside joke for about 3 months :)

Nope that would be silly
