+20 it's weird when parents with kids who have ADD or ADHD don't want to put their kids on medication. your kid is not going to get better if you dont them on medication. amirite?

yea no one with add could survive before the medication was invented. Kids with add almost died in the 1800 because of the lack of add medicine.

The cure for ADD is going outside.

A lot of kids grow out of it. I did fine until college and I couldn't study for exams.

More activity and less TV is the answer!

Send them outside to romp and ride bikes. The more kids are kept indoors, the more ADHD we're going to see.

The concern for many parents is the over diagnosis of ADHD.

lots of add medicines have undesirable side effects fool!

Okay, ADD and ADHD are diseases that have so many levels. Not everyone needs medicine! Also, sometimes parents don't think their children need it, and find that it will just discourage their perfectly able child. Ad for ADHD medicine on my computer right now. heehee

i have ADD and my parents won't let me get meds...then tell me I'm lying when I tell them I can't concentrate. Some people don't need it, some people do.

I have ADHD and I have never been on medication. I do better than every ADHD kid I know on medication and my ADHD is severe.

Every person with ADD/ADHD is different. For example, I have ADD and I use medication durring the school year and it realy helps me, but alot of kids I know who are also ADD do fine in school without it. It just depends on the person.

well, my brother has adhd, and the medicine only decreases his appetite, makes it hard for him to sleep, and prevents him from gaining weight (which he needs as he is too skinny). i really dont notice a difference from when he takes the pills and when he doesnt. medicine may help some kids, but to 'cure' them, they just have to try twice as hard as the normal kid

it's not a disease to be hyper

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not always being hyper. Learn your facts.

Yeesh, there should stop being a disease for everything. Maybe they're bored with school and want to go outside or something.

There are a lot of unpleasant side effects to ADHD medicines. And really, what parent would want their child to completely depend on a medication to survive everyday life. It's pretty sad to have to deal with a kid who can't help having awful behavior. The thought of drugging your kid at age 6 is worse. I have ADHD, and I don't have medication. Just therapy, and I can get As and A+s without medication, even though it's way harder. Eventually the child will have to stop, and sometimes it can be addictive.
