+253 Pitbulls are NOT vicious or aggressive and it is just a stupid stereotype. They are loyal, brave, and fearless dogs and anybody would be lucky to own one, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its not a stereotype, pitbulls are naturally mean because they are territorial.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually no, it's how you raise them. All dogs are territorial just so you know.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its like a lion, if you buy one or find one that wasnt trained, most likely, it will be mean. But if you get it as a baby and train it to be nice, they wont be mean.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

exactly. but same goes for other dogs, not just pitts. The problem is irresponsible owners

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lions aren't domesticated. But I get what you mean.

THANK YOU. People are so judgmental of the dogs. You can change a dogs personality. (most of the time, anyways)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pittbulls are more inclined to be agressive because that's how they've been breed for generations, but in the end, you're correct, it all depends on the owner

Pitbulls just get branded as these terrible dogs because of their heightened territorial tendencies. I definately think a system should be put in place to prevent the average person from adopting a Pitbull- these dogs are only dangerous when reared incorrectly and should be raised by people who know what they're doing.

I was walking to school one morning, and out of nowhere, this pitbull decided it wanted to chase me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

alot of dogs will do that....

I owned a pitbull we named her Crazy. Not because she would hurt you but because whenever she saw us she would run up to us and make us fall and lick our faces. Then I had another pitbull we name him Tas and he was really adorable and sweet. My point is that I have had 2 pitbulls and they've both been the sweetest thing and its all because we treated them right and loved them.

A tiger can become harmless with the right training as well that doesn't mean it's a suitable pet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Im sorry but using tigers and lions to support your claim is terrible. I don't know if you have ever heard of siegfried and Roy but they had two white tigers and one ended up mauling siegfried... Some animals just tend to be more violent no matter how good they're trainers are

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Didn't mention lions. Anyway, of course it's not the same situation but exaggeration promotes understanding. What I was trying to say is that it isn't that much about how likely they are to attack, but more about how dangerous they are if they do attack.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They actually had animal experts anazlyze what happened. they stated that the tiger reacted in a protective, motherly way, the same way the tiger would have reacted if its baby was in danger. The tiger didnt know that a mans throat was that sensitive because when large cats grab their cubs they do it by the scruff of the neck. It wasnt an aggressive move.

You watch Pitbulls and Parolees, right? That's like a quote from the opening :D. That show is awesome, by the way people.

Most people commenting don't know much about Pit Bulls. These dogs are not naturally human aggressive. In fact, human aggression is one trait that was specifically bred out of Pits. These dogs are loyal and will do anything to please their owners, even if that means hurting themselves. Really, Pit Bull is not a specific breed of dog. It is actually 4-6 different dog breeds of the Molosser family. American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, and the newest to the family, the American Bully, are most commonly grouped together as Pit Bulls.

This one time when I was a baby, a pit bull ate me in one bite. No lies, these motherfuckers are agressive.

I love mine, he's just a big goofball.

Thank you. I hate ignorant people who do absolutely no research, they just hear about dickheads like michael vick who use the dogs to fight because they are strong and because of their lockjaw. There have been tests done to prove that pitbulls have a better temperment than most dogs that are considered family friendly. They're territorial and protective, yes, but so are just about all dogs; my fox terrior is but do those dogs get bad reps? no. Personally, I want a protective dog. I want a dog that could protect me and family if the need ever arose. A pitbull will attack if its been treated wrong or been trained to never allow people near it or its owner. They arent mean or bad dogs, the people in the dog fighting trade are the bad ones. If you've ever been around a pitbull you would know they arent mean if raised right. My boyfriend has one which they rescued from an abusive family, and she is one of the sweetest dogs ive ever met.
