I do that too! Except the labels wore off on mine, so now I have to play Bohemian Rhapsody to find out which one is the left earbud and which one is the right earbud. Is this the real life?

Your ear canals are actually pointing towards your face, not straight in. So if you put the earbuds in the correct way, they will transmit the sound in a straighter direction along your ear canal, increasing the sound quality.

What he said ^ yeah, I always make sure I put them in their corresponding ears. Then again I have the fancy earbuds that are long and actually go inside your ear, not just resting on the rim.

On my old earphones there were three little dots on the left one so you wouldn't have to look.

They still might be. I got skullcandies once and couldn't find the labels for a couple of days, so I googled it and found out where they were. They were damn near impossible to read, but they were there.
