+259 Everyone says they want to fly, or read minds. But it would clearly be better to be a shape shifter so you can do just about anything, amirite?

I think I'd rather be able to stop and start time, provided I didn't age while it was stopped.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd rather be able to change how I perceived time (being able to interpret a few seconds as a few minutes). I wouldn't mind being able to move slower in that time (normal speed to those observing me) as long as I would be able to think and react normally relative to me). Would make me appear to have CRAZY reaction times.

If you could shapeshift, you could just turn into a person who could control time.

??? Shapeshift: "[...] In its broadest sense, it is when a being has the ability to alter its physical appearance." "ability to alter its physical appearance." "physical appearance." "PHYSICAL"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Shapeshifters don't exist. Neither do people who can control their perception of time. You can't claim to know how they would work if they did. Even if the latter does exist, what are the odds that their physical bodies are exactly the same as that of a normal person? What could be giving them the ability naturally, other than something in their physical forms? (PHYSICAL!!!) Shapeshifters, by nearly every definition I've ever heard, actually turn into the person/thing; they don't just look like it. Their mind would have to stay the same, but any differences in their bodies would be copied over, including whatever gives them that power.

Same! You could literally do anything if you could stop time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*virtually. You couldn't fly.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would shapeshift into a flying mind reader.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

\why should I bother to try

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Shapeshifters just turn into the creature, hence the term SHAPEshifter. They retain none of the creature's abilities.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So if a shapeshifter turned into a bird, you're saying they couldn't fly? Cuz that doesn't sound right.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ofc he would, he's physically able to. If he turned into someone who can read minds he can run and jump and shit, he just can't read minds because all he does is take on the physical appearance of the creature

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HOLY SHIT you know someone who can shapeshift? COOL!!!! Obviously this post is referring to the type of shapeshifter that DOES keep the powers of the thing he's turning into. Unless you've seen a shapeshifter before, all we know about them is from science fiction or fantasy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's like saying "Well OBVIOUSLY this post is referring to the black white guys!" It may be what they're talking about, but what they're saying is incorrect.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The term "shapeshift" is not officially defined as meaning they don't keep the powers. When you shapeshift, it could turn you into an exact duplicate of that person/thing, which would give you any abilities they possess. Or it could just make you look like that person/thing. There's no evidence either way, and both types have existed in fiction. Technically they're both incorrect as far as we know, but it is quite clear which type the OP was talking about.

A real shapeshifter probably wouldn't retain mental powers, but it would be possible by shapeshifting the brain as well. However, that would also destroy the shapeshifting ability and personailty.

All i know about shape shifters is from the show true blood. And from that, shifting doesn't sound to appealing to me.

I have the power to detect bad posts and comment on them.
