Band is more fun than orchestra and chorus combined, amirite?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Yeah! Do they have a valve for their spit? Do they have loud brass-and-wood based instruments? NO! We are awesomesauce. if only I could learn how to play the clarinet again...
by Anonymous14 years ago
Um, orchestra uses brass and woodwinds... I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Oh, our school orchestra just uses strings. Blech.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Orchestra is mainly string instruments. I don't know what orchestra you're in, but my schools orchestra using string instruments. By wood, I meant woodwind. But I don't know many ORCHESTRAS using brass instruments. Enlighten me.

I'm a trumpet player and i know for a fact that for an orchestra to sound right it has to have at least some trumpets and trombones, most have cornets, trumpets, trombones, horns, tubas, french horns etc. Using brass in orchestras was mainly popular in the romantic period up to modern so i think an orchestra can only be classed as an orchestra if it has a brass, woodwind, percussion and string section. If it's just strings then it's obviously a string ensemle.

That is a band and orchestra combined. Orchestra is mainly string instruments. I never see an orchestra that has trumpets. I forget what it is called...

New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Boston Pops, basically every single professional orchestra on the face of the planet.
by Anonymous14 years ago
those aren't just orchestras. they may be both combined. either that, or my school wants us to think the wrong about music.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Okay, your school probably is retarded then. I majored in music in college, and I have a ton of experience. Don't try to tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about.
by Anonymous14 years ago
No like seriously. How can you sit there and say that the New York Philharmonic is not an orchestra? Are you really that dumb?
by Anonymous14 years ago
I know try every single british orchestra too, believe me @(Nintenfreak) orchestras do contain brass sections. Can you give a name of a proffessional orchestra that doesn't? New York Philharmonic orchestra is a great example, their brass section is amazing.
by Anonymous14 years ago
No. Maybe it's because I've never seen them? Please, lay out the possibilities before callinhg somebody dumb. :)
@57774 (Anonymous): Like I said, maybe my school is wrong by not putting any brass sections in their orchestra.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Hahahahaha. "lay out the possibilities." That's funny. How about before you tell a professional musician that they don't know what they are talking about, you look up "orchestra" in the dictionary. :)

you are totally correct. I mean, when there are band instruments in an orchestra its still called an orchestra-a symphony orchestra!

CHOIR FOREVAHH
by Anonymous14 years ago
I would be able to be okay with that, except that our school choir sucks, so I'm naturally against it. C'mon, band kids! Let's vote yes!
by Anonymous14 years ago
OBOE FOR LIFE!
by Anonymous14 years ago
In high school, yes. In college, the orchestras tend to play better music and be more advanced than the bands.
Although my freshman year in college, our top band went to Japan and Korea for three weeks, and that was possibly the most fun I've ever had in my life.
But still overall, as a professional I would rather play in an orchestra than a band. (And I was a music major in college, so I've had plenty of experience doing both.)

VIOLIN! :D
by Anonymous14 years ago
Uh no...the band at my school sucks GO VIOLIN!
MUHAHAHAHAHAHA! XD
by Anonymous14 years ago
Well, full orchestras/chamber orchestras do include band, but it's still mainly string instruments.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I couldn't pick. I find all forms of music equally fun.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Violin! Classical! Mozart! Bach!
by Anonymous14 years ago
I've done band, orchestra, and choir for many years, but I finally quit orchestra and then band because I didn't enjoy it and CHOIR IS DA BEST!!!!!
