Sorry, I have to point this out :P ...it should be: "You know YOU'RE desperate when YOU'RE sharpening a pencil with a of pair scissors, carving it with a knife, or when your only pencil is half the size of your pinky."

I had an art teacher who never used pencil sharpeners. She insisted that we sharpen our pencils using utility knives. She was an amazing artist, though.
