It's a lot easier to memorize lyrics when it's your own material that you're memorizing. When I write song parodies, I usually know every word by heart.

Erm, why just rappers? What about all musicians? Better yet, what about people who work in musical theatre who not only have to memorize all of their songs, but also their lines and entrances/exits... Also, think about how many songs you know! ...It's not that hard.
