It's nonsensical that my parents won't let me have a cellphone until I'm 16 years old, amirite?

Have you tried telling them you could get kidnapped,raped,or hurt and you have no way to con tact help?

yeah, mine said 9th grade, i hated it cause in like 7th grade EVERYONE had a cell phone, i didn't want one at all, but sometimes i would think, man, if i had a cell phone it would be a LOT easier

There's not much you can do. My advice: Just wait it out until you're 16, then once you get it, then the 'waited until 16' factor won't matter. Having a cellphone isn't everything. I mean, it's nice, but at least you have internet and music and other stuff. You'll be fine :)

I had a cell phone younger than that, but if your parents don't want you to have one, and they're paying for it, then you'll just have to get over it, and suck it up. (Unless you want to offer to pay them for the plan, 'cause those things can get expensive)

Cell phones are a hassle for me. Sometimes its useful, but a lot of times I'd rather not even have one.

I'm 18 and recently got a cell phone, like last year because that's when I started driving, its not a big deal. I barely use my phone to call/text people, I just use it for the internet feature, so you don't need a cell phone.

I got a big fancy phone in 6th grade, but i didn't really need it plus the plan was expensive so we sold it. Now, I have a phone and I'm putting it to better use because i've been getting busier and my club has a lot of unexpected meetings and i'll need to be able to get a hold of a ride

I got my phone at the beginning of Seventh Grade. When I was 13. I think that's a perfectly reasonable age. 16 is too late, I think. Maybe you should try getting a job and offer to pay for it yourself!

I got mine when I was twelve, right at the beginning of grade 7. This makes the most sense to me because it's a way for your parents' trust in you to grow as you really start to mature, it gives you a way to communicate with friends when you're going out (& whatnot) with them, without adults, & also because middle school seems to be when your life begins to get its busiest.

The only reason I got mine was because my dad forgot me at school and everyone had already left. But I can't text at all or call anyone outside of family on it.

It sounds like they`re paying for it. They have every right to make you pay for it. Be glad about that (assuming that my assumption`s correct). I don`t think needing it to call for rides home makes sense because there are pay phones and people who are willing to lend you their cellular telephone everywhere.

I'm 14 and I have one. I've had one since 7th grade. It doesn't really make sense to me why they would wait until you're sixteen. But if they're paying on it, then oh well. You'll survive, lol. People don't NEED cell phones, but they are practical. There have been quite a few times when my phone came in handy, haha.
