+320 You wish there was a Rosetta Stone for "British" so you could learn to use the accent without sounding like an American douche, amirite?

They do! It's rather expensive, but you could be like THE people that download stuff from the internet illegally. You know, a PIRATE? It's not hard to download, nor is it to keep the authorities at BAY. (;

I don't ever wanna have a brittish accent

Right? Why would anyone wanna sound like that

There are so many different accents in just England, let alone if you add Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland! If I (from the North West of England) spoke to someone from say, London, the way I speak would be pretty different, eg. saying the word 'book' would be 'bewk' compared to their 'buck', etc. There isn't a standard 'British' accent!

You beat me to the "There's no such thing as a British accent" rant which I was just about to start. Thank you, you saved my time y

Exactly...I could do what I intepret to be an American accent, but people from, say, Texas and New Jersey sound completely different to one another - it's not an 'American' accent as such, it's all regionalised. Much like if you went to London and then up to Liverpool...I highly expect many Americans would struggle to immediately understand a Scouse (Liverpudlian) accent! Even in London, you get different accents for different areas of it! Some areas of Britain, such as Cornwall, even have/had their own languages!
